Hi everyone

I created a more efficient adaptation of my TiddlyBlink. I call it Idea stew. I took out a couple things that I didn't like, refined the notetaking process, and added a tutorial video. (TiddlyBlink will remain unchanged).

I welcome feedback. Thank you to everyone who made the included plugins or who has helped me over the last couple of months on these projects!

hello David,

Will TiddlyBlink still be updated/improved or has it gone into "maintenance mode" (left as is with no further improvements planned)?

Hi A Gloom

I expect to update both with new versions of TiddlyWiki, but both are 'done', so to speak, unless, God forbid, I come up with something really revolutionary to add to them.

This is looking really nice David! Thanks a lot for sharing this!
Have you considered adding the TiddlyMap plug-in? It could provide something similar to Roam's visualisations.

Thanks, Edu Nv! No, I am resisting putting TiddlyMap on there. But you are certainly welcome to!

David,

I know this has been brought up on the past, but I'd like to repeat the request to make this into a plugin for easy installation and modification!

Thanks for your work!

I agree a plugin would be nice. At some point TonyM offered to create one for me for TiddlyBlink, since I do not know how to create plugins, and have no interest in learning it - I have enough on my plate. I think the other plugins used would need to be kept separate from the ideastew plugin.

Dragging a tag works pretty well, and gets all the supporting plugins as well.

It's only if you want to uninstall that a plugin becomes more valuable. Even then, you can use the advanced search
filter to find everything with the tag and then delete. So ... plugins aren't necessarily any more useful than groups
of tiddlers.

Id say from a end use and encapsulation perspective they certainly are. Presumably the same reasons why they were invested is the same reasons why they are still useful. When someone wants to test a plugin out, its reassuring to be able to just "drop one tiddler in" and "remove one tiddler" and your wiki is back in the state it was in before you tested.

Here is JUST the ideastew app, packaged with NO dependents (which would probably be rude, but dunno). I haven't done an end-to-end test -- could be errors.

@David -- your "Home"  the download ($:/.giffmex.../download) tiddlers have not been tagged as "tb". You might want to consider making the state tiddler into a regular tiddler or tagging it, so that it can be packaged and the user will always start on the video or download link (since the other links are kind of boring).

Packaging done with Tinka.

Hi Mark

Thank you so much for taking the time to make a plugin for Idea stew!

Explanation: I deliberately did not tag Home as tb, because the tag pushed the tiddler's contents down and I didn't like the way it looks. That's why I put in the instructions to drag both [[Home]] and the tb tag pill, to preserve the aesthetics of Home.

I am uploading/attaching to this post a copy of Idea Stew with the following changes:

1. I tagged the three tiddlers listed below as tb and uploaded the changes.

$:/state/tab5--333091413 - = video tutorial as default tab in Home,

$:/state/tab/sidebar--595412856 = gear tab as default sidebar tab

2. I updated the download.save tiddler to reflect what it should look like after the plugin is correct.

If you update the plugin with these changes, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. You have $:/.tb/macros/list-search in the plugin but that is a dependency. It should be taken out as the plugins were.

2. The following four tiddlers need to be in the Idea stew plugin, since they are my user configurations of the plugins:

3. Because of the tiddlers in #2, I have instructed users to install the dependent plugins first, then the Idea stew plugin last so it overwrites them. (Is that correct?)

Thank you again for your assistance, Mark, you have been a huge help. Blessings.

Ok, hopefully I've threaded the needle.

You may have to assign a non-dynamic state tiddler for your default tab. Or however packages any future changes may have to remember to remove the old tiddler and add the new -- the assigned number seems to change.
