You are invited to join a marathon hangout to celebrate both the 10th anniversary of TiddlyWiki's first release, and the new version 5 of TiddlyWiki moving out of "beta".

You can drop in and join the hangout whenever you can - we're hoping that more people will be able to join thanks to the longer hours and being on a weekend.

Plans for the hangout include:

* Review of TiddlyWiki's new features, and roadmap for future development
* Diving into the archives of early versions of TiddlyWiki, reviews and articles
* What does the future hold for TiddlyWiki?
* Show and tell from TiddlyWiki users talking about how they use it

You can post questions for the hangout using the Q&A button at the top right of the video preview.

I hope you'll join me for this very special event.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

@Jeremy and all :

Happy birthday to TiddlyWiki !!

I am not sure if I will attend the 10th anniversary event.
While I come out some words about "TiddlyWiki and Me" as below,
to show "how I use TiddlyWiki".

Hi Eucaly

That's great, I really appreciate seeing it.

It reminds me of a project we did at BT, encouraging TiddlyWiki users to answer a series of interview questions about it:

There's some interesting comments in there.

Best wishes

Jeremy

Damn!
This weekend is the Spanish national yoyo contest, which am I one of the organizers and an old champion. I have to attend the event, but I will try to find a wifi hotspot or something like that to attend to the 10th anniversary of my very favorite piece of software.

Wow! I'm thoroughly impressed. I hope you'll do a yoyo-ers edition of TiddlyWiki at some point...

It would be great if you were able to join us on Saturday, fingers crossed.

Best wishes

Jeremy

TiddlyWiki has a yoyo competition champ  it's midst! Such a variety... A missionary based in Mexico and a Spanish yoyo champ.... Wonderful!

I hope to log in at some point - from boring old Stockport in UK - looking forward to it,

Alex

Just a reminder that the hangout will be kicking off tomorrow (in a little under 18 hours from now). I look forwards to seeing everyone who is able to drop in at some point during the 8 hours.

One of the most popular features of hangouts has been when other people demonstrate their private use of TiddlyWiki. You may think that your usages aren't terribly sophisticated, but it's frequently fascinating to understand how people use TiddlyWiki, and how they think about it. So, if you're planning to attend, please do consider whether there's anything you'd be happy to show.

Of course, the anniversary hangout isn't just about TiddlyWiki5. It might also be fun to try to dig up the earliest example of using TiddlyWiki that you can find to fuel some reminiscence.

I hope that we'll be able to record the hangout via YouTube. (This week's hangout couldn't be recorded due to YouTube scheduled maintenance, but let's hope that it's sorted out by now).

There won't be the usual weekly hangouts on the 23rd or 30th September, but they'll resume on October 7th.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

I wish everyone a great time and really appreciate all the hard work which has gone into this. To be frank, TW has replaced notepad for most of my necessities. I wish I could join but due to some commitments will not be there. All the very best. :)

Great to be able to be there!

Well done Jeremy and all on TW5 - I am starting to shift over to using TW5 after using TW classic from very early on - and I like it!

Yesterday's hangout was a great success. We had a full house of 10 participants for most of the time, with another dozen watching the live stream. There was much good discussion, and many demonstrations of how and why people are using TiddlyWiki.

The video is now up on YouTube:

I thoroughly enjoyed the session, and would like to thank everyone who came along.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

It was a real pleasure to "audit" the whole 8 hours.  The fact that I was temporarily without a microphone and video camera even made it possible for me to concentrate on taking better note!  Thanks for getting us to this watershed and again "Congratulations!".

Alex:

Normally, I would be able to and quite happy to do so.  Unfortunately, in this case, I had enough time during the 8 hour marathon that I broke my notes up into tiddlers and tagged them to link to the various other tiddlers that I wanted to associate them with.  As a result, the 75 or so MicroContent notes are dispersed almost randomly throughout one of my larger TW files.

I do intend to sort this out during the next month or so since I will at least "submit" some documentation, as a way of contributing to the community.  Unfortunately, my I have a couple of current commitments that preclude working on this any faster.

Cheers -- Hans

Hi Hans,

I feel a similar urge and have similar constraints...

There is some great stuff in the video, rich and complex, things that for a TiddlyFan invite close inspection.  Being able to navigate to a particular point in the video and then use that a start for intertwingling NonLinear Personal TiddlyAdventure...

It could capture themes for further discussion, on broader more abstract aspects of TiddlyWiki

Hans, couldn't you find those tiddlers by reviewing the timeline within the range of time you edited those tiddlers?

But of course and it would even be relatively easy to just find and post the bits and pieces.  Hoever, I've created a (temporary) mess in my attempts to follow what I think are Jeremy's views on MicroContent.  Effectively, I created a lot of little snippets that are $taged, $listed, and $tranclude(d).  The end result is that everything is very much "out of (any meaningful) context", unless the whole file is made available.  (I was enjoying the Event, so I carelessly used one of my larger, "production" files.)

The only good news is that I at least haven't lost anything and should be able to incorporate it into the documentation I'm hoping to produce,

Cheers -- Hans
