Control panel > Appearance tab > Layout tab question

Hi all

Regarding Control panel > Appearance tab > Layout tab. Is there a need for this tab? Are there other layouts out there? I have never heard mention of this otherwise. Was this something that planned that was eventually dropped? Or is there some black market in the deep web where people trade TiddlyWiki layouts in secret?

Dave,

 It is reserved for plugin developers and future development!

 I think (?) Jeremy is going to officially add other page layouts! If so then you can expect to have the possibility to switch to several page layouts of choice like (website layout, blog layout, ...)

Thanks Mohammad! BTW, i just discovered yout multicol macro. Nice! I added it to the toolmap just above Saq's Stories.

Thank you David! I think you mean macro in Shiraz!

I hope I can find spare time to write more about Shiraz! It has many Bootstrap 4.1 elements. So it is like a small framework and can

be used for rapid web development using TW.

In v5.1.23 we added a new $:/layout configuration tiddler that determines the current page layout.

$:/core/ui/PageTemplate is still the default, but you can add your own by creating a custom template with the tag $:/tags/PageLayout (and “name” and “description” fields).

In a future release we might ship alternative layouts in the core, but there’s nothing to stop others exploring alternative layouts now.

Yes, Mohammad, I meant in Shiraz. I have looked at Shiraz before, but hadn't seen that particular macro, which also works quite well apart from Shiraz.

Hi David

The new TiddlyWiki on Fission app I’ve been working on uses an alternate page layout.

The custom layout is actually pretty TiddlyWiki-like (see the first picture below). There’s a button at the bottom of the page to switch to the proper TiddlyWiki page layout, with the sidebar etc. Once you’re back in TiddlyWiki you’ll finally see a second entry in Control Panel -> Appearance -> Layout (see the second picture below).
