I have a scene that I use to pop up when a new SMS arrives to display it and gives response options. I recently started using Widgetlocker as my lock screen. I would like to be able to place this scene on my lock screen as a widget.

I downloaded Pent's Zoom widget app but don't want to have to recreate the scene again and work out all the connections to Tasker, it's three interconnected scenes that launch one another plus i would have to figure out all the element manipulation for the widget to get all the SMS data. Is there any way that we can import scenes we've created into Zoom widget so I don't have to duplicate all my work again? Or at least set it up so we can use scenes as widgets?

Sorry, no.

Aside from the technical problems (widgets are more restrictive than
dialogs etc) Zoom hasn't been much of a success and I can't justify
the time.

It would be great if Scenes could be used as widgets. Then maybe Zoom will be redundant?

Thanks for your work,

L.

Its a shame zoom didnt take off. I managed to create some quite intricate widgets with the use of tasker and autoremote. I had a fully functional realtime control for my phone as a widget on my tablets homescreen which dynamicley changed with my actual phone, unfortunatley I flash a lot of roms and zoom never held its calibration correctly, even when I backed up designs, meaning I had to remake the widget over and over until eventually I said stuff it. and now I make tasker scenes for everything.

But I still maintain the opinion that zoom like tasker is just miss understood by the vast majority of people and given the chance you can do some amazing stuff with it.

I always use Zoom, I just couldn't get to grips with scenes - how do you even create a widget with scenes, I mean how do you add the scene to the home screen?

I see how they work for a popup dialogue type situation, but apart from that they just confused me!

Thats the point of this thread - you cant use scenes as widgets.

For what I needed it was easy enough to just have a 1x1 shortcut to a task that showed my scene which let's me set environment variables. It wouldn't work if I wanted to show the last few text messages I've received or whatnot but for that I would probably look into pushing the info into minimalistic text or something.

It's a shame that Zoom is no longer being developed.. 😞

I use scenes as my home screen widgets, by simply having a blank screen (no dock, icons, etc.) and showing the scenes when my launcher is active, and hiding then when it isn't.

It's not perfect, there's definite lag between them appearing and disappearing which wouldn't be to everyone's tastes, but I can live with it for the benefits (swipe gestures on widgets, dynamic show/hide on widgets, themeing using tasker variables).

Use Uccw or Zopper widgets. Create custom layout and add Tasker text to it.

Yes but that's just it, all you can add is text, i'd like to be able to control, text color, images, etc. so far Zoom was the only one able to do that.

Using Tasker you can do all that you mentioned in Zooper.

send Tasker variables to Zooper. In Zooper you can use these variables as basic values for things like text or numbers, but you can use Tasker variables in Zoopers advanced settings section to change colors/load images etc. if you want to control things, simply set the Zooper "on tap" action for different elements to point towards a Tasker task of your choice.

i.e  you could make a toggle image in Zooper and when you press it it triggers a Tasker task that toggles something and then changes the Zooper variable so that the toggle image changes.

Scott

i have some home screen zooper widgets and would like to convert them to Tasker scenes (more flexibility with gestures like you mentioned below, plus I get to remove one superfluous app to conserve RAM)

Question: does using Tasker scenes on the home screen cause a lot of launcher lag and incremental RAM consumption for you?

The only issues it seems to cause it a small delay showing/hiding the scenes in response to the launcher active profile turning on and off. Other than that I haven't noticed any issues, but I obviously can't guarantee your phone will be the same :P
