When I say I can't disable it I mean there are no check box for beginner mode or anything else typically under the UI menu in Preferences.

I have never had this happen before. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling directly from the play store. The Tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 running 4.4.2 without root.

Any Suggestion I'm interested in since I heavily use tasker both on my phone and tablet.

It sounds like beginners mode is already disabled. Once you disable from preferences for the first time you can not enable it again and it is no longer shown in the preferences.  If you see a big plus sign at the bottom of the UI screen long press that to see the project tabs.

That change was implemented in 4.3.

From change log:
  • don't allow Beginner Mode (or show option for it) if have projects in data

Changed A few versions ago, if you could re- enable  beginners mode you would lose the project tabs..

From What I can tell I'm stuck in beginner mode. I say this because I'm not able to create project tabs or see the value of global variables that I have set with tasks.

I did a fresh install, which means no project tabs. Also when I long press the plus sign at the bottom nothing happens. Additional I have tried following the userguide which says I should be able to long press any button at the bottom to show project tabs.

Also the change log doesn't explain why Animations, Haptic Feedback, Tips, Always Show Enable Icon, Ask New Profile Name, Confirm Profile Deletes and Confirm Other Deletes don't have a check box either, does it?

Is it at all possible that this could be related to a plug in being installed and causing errors?

Try this. Backup your Tasker data. Copy the userbackup to someplace safe. Clear the app data and cache. Uninstall tasker. Reboot the phone. Reinstall Tasker. Turn off beginner mode. Import your userbackup.

I did just as you said but when I went into preference after the uninstall the check boxes were still missing. I'm at a lost of what else could be going on and unless anyone else has any idea of what I could do or what it could be I'd be interested in the devs opinion.

Can you post a screenshot what you're seeing, or not seeing in this case?

Maybe it's the map framework thingy that tasker needs for tablets?

I have had this issue in the past and at that point performed the same steps as Thomas suggests and it worked out fine for me.
This has happened on both my phone and a friend of mine.
Disabling Beginner Mode before importing the backup is important..

Have you tested Beginner Mode was really disabled after disabling it?

I haven't been able to disable it because the checkbox that would allow me to do so is missing. I don't plan on trying to import any of my old tasks in until I can resolve this issue.

Thomas,

The check boxes are there, you just can't see them in Landscape mode. Make sure your screen rotation is on, turn your tablet on its side to portrait mode and you will just barely be able to see the boxes. But there is enough showing to turn beginner mode off. Worked for me on my Galaxy S Note 2014 anyway, YMMV

Thanks, That did the trick. I have the same tablet as you. Have you found that with this version of tasker that the right side of the screen gets cut off no matter the screen orientation? I found creating any task with a plug in which need to be configure was really hard to do since the edit icon was cut off most of the time. I hope the dev fixes this since I only had this issue as of the most recent up date.

Hi, interesting, Pent wrote it could be my ROM,xKat 3.1, the cut on the right.l have a SG Note 10.1 (2014).
My solution was, with Xposed and App Settings, I change DPI to 440 and lettersize down to 65.
Now I see a little bit more on the right side in landscape.

What s your phone/tablet and ROM?
Regards

I upgraded to the new version of tasker and I'm still having screen size issues.

Start a new thread. Try to provide some more detail.

What device are you using?
When and where does the screen size become an issue?

I, too have this issue. Had it with the stock rom, and with xKat 3.1 now as well. I wonder if the 2680x1600 resolution is the culprit.

It has been over a month and there is no solution and it seem like a small hand full of other people are having this issue too. We all seem to be on the same tablet. Does anyone know of a non root way to change the DPI of the app since this seems to be the only solution?

Its impossible without root unfortunately.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it seems the only options left unless I root are to go back to a version of tasker that worked or for the developer to implement some kind of fix.
