Hello, I just purchased tasker and I realize that there is a major learning curve.  If some one could help out with my problem I would appreciate it!!
I need to be able to turn off my bluetooth connection to my car radio approximately 15 seconds after it has connected, and then turn bluetooth back on.  The reason for this is that android 4.3 broke my phone to be able to connect both the phone audio and media audio upon initial connection to my radio.  Here is what my issue is:

1, Get into car, turn on ignition, car radio initiates connection with phone, phone audio profile connects, media audio profile tries to connect (can see "connecting" flashing for maybe 30 seconds), but finally the phone/car radio stops trying to connect to media audio.

2.  If I then turn off my bluetooth radio, then turn back on, car radio initiates connection and then both phone and media audio profiles connect.  Music streams via bluetooth, all is good.

There must be a straightforward way that I can do this with tasker, but my efforts have led me nowhere.  Any help would be appreciated.  I hate to re-invent the wheel!!

I need to be able to turn off my bluetooth connection to my car radio approximately 15 seconds after it has connected, and then turn bluetooth back on.

Create a profile with a state Bluetooth Connected. Leave the parameters blank for now till we know it's working.

The associated task should be:

Task / Wait 15 Seconds
Net / Bluetooth, Off
Net / Bluetooth, On

In profile properties (long-click the profile header), you need to deselect Restore Settings
and set a Cooldown Time of e.g. 20 seconds. The cooldown is in case it's auto-connecting
when BT comes on, because otherwise you'll get in a loop.

Ok, created profile and added tasks as you suggested.  When I run this profile on my phone it appears to work OK.  When I enter the parameters of my bluetooth device into the profile and run the profile in my car I see that tasker shuts off my phone bluetooth radio, but then I get a "Warning - Bluetooth action failed" message before tasker can turn the bluetooth radio back on...
Is there something else I should try?

Try putting a Task / Wait  action between the BT actions. Maybe few seconds. From where do you get the warning ?
Android ? Is there an icon on it ?

Pent,

I did put a wait command (5 seconds) between the net/bluetooth off and net/bluetooth on commands.  It appears that the warning is coming from tasker, I am pretty sure that a tasker icon pops up with the warning message underneath....

I am wondering, since I created a profile with a state "Bluetooth Connected" and entered the parameters of my car bluetooth radio address,  that once I disconnect the phone bluetooth radio that tasker sees this as a "failure" of the state "Bluetooth connected" and it throws the warning message?  Does this make sense?

well, I removed my car radio bluetooth name and address from the state parameters, and now tasker is working!!

Only problem is that is appears to be looping.  Is there an exit command I need to give, or some other way to stop tasker from continually running this profile (until it detects that I have disconnected from my car radio)?

I did say to leave them blank.

Only problem is that is appears to be looping.

Did you set the profile preference I specified ?

Yes, I did set the profile preferences exactly as you specified - cool down time of 20 seconds and deselected restore settings.  The tasks still loop.  I increased the cool down time to 45 seconds and it still loops.  The interesting thing is if I run the tasks without using the profile state "bluetooth connected" as a trigger, then the tasks only run once and everything works as wanted.
Is there some task I can put as an exit that will stop the tasks fromm looping, yet keep tasker profile active for the next time I connect to my car radio?  Believe me I have spent several hours trying different things, so any help is appreciated!

You could make a named exit task that does like a 30 second wait. Then at the top of the entry task add a stop action, check the if box and put %TRUN ~ *,NameOfYourExitTask,* . Make sure you uncheck enforce task order in the profile properties.
