I was having the same issue until I found AutoVoice on the Play Store. Its intention is more for receiving voice prompts, but if you look at the list of features at the bottom of the description, item two is your answer.
So I had a task that was set up as:Profile: Receive text messagePlugin>AutoVoice Control BluetoothIn the options I turned it to on, and then routed through the call stream for my car's radio to mute current audioWait 1 second (To give my car stereo time to route the call audio)Read text messageEnd call (Otherwise it left the audio stream active and I'd have to manually end it)
So this WAS working great in my car, but stopped working a couple of months ago - wondering if it's an AutoVoice update that might have affected it and if anyone else has seen the issue. Here's my set up:

%SMSRN and %SMSRB are system variables that get defined when you get a txt message.
