Autonotification not working on Gmail notification

Hi,

I upgraded my phone to a S10e, running Android 11.

With Autonotification, I'm having difficulty getting it to work with my Gmail notifications.

Reading through some of this forum, I do get the regular gmail notifications with my email in the header:

Sometimes, autonotification will pop up but it won't show the email text, nor the buttons I've chosen.  Just like the screen shot here.

Other times, autonotification won't pop up at all.

Any ideas?  Thank you.

Can you please try this in AutoNotification:
- clear logs
- enable system logs
- wait til you receive a Gmail notification
-export logs and paste them here

Hi, here's the log I think you need, please let me know if I'm not doing this right.  I sent myself an email from my own account.  (Changed the actual email address in the log).

In this case here, both the original came up as well as the autonotification one, but no text or buttons for the autonotify one.

My quick read of these limited logs is that autonotification does see the gmail notification and does try to put up its own, with the buttons.  However, this is definitely not happening.  An extra notification does appear but there are no buttons on it.

Also of note, if I try the "Test" procedure within autonotification, it doesn't work.  It also senses "2 Gmail notifications" even though there's only 1 present.

I was very hopeful!  But still having the same issues.  AutoNotification shows but with no buttons listed.

Happy to.  Of note, in this example, the autonotify actually did not pop up at all, but the logs indicate it should have =(

This happens maybe half the time.

Ok, can you please try something for me: could you please try uninstalling AutoNotification and then re-installing it and setting up the feature again? Does that help?

I really appreciate you trying to work through this with me.

I've uninstalled and tried it again, and I still have the issue.

I installed it also on a different phone completely, also a Samsung, the A32, running Android 11.  It has the same effect.  Specifically, an autonotification will pop up, but no text or options are visible.  I've tried switching both light and dark themes, same result.

Interestingly, I have notifications mirrored using Pushbullet.  When it pops up on Pushbullet on a PC, it will list the 4 options I've selected (Reply, Star, etc) on that notification.  But they are not visible on the phone.

Hmmm, Can you try using just 3 buttons instead of 4 and see what happens?

YES! Using 3 buttons only it's displaying as it should!

Great! :) I figured it out. The problem is that notifications with 4 or 5 buttons on Android 11 will appear as media notifications. Can you please check if they are there next to the other music app notifications?

Unfortunately that means that I will need to remove the functionality of using more than 3 buttons for Android 11+ :(
