Hello,

I'm trying to set Tasker up so that when I'm in the car and I dock my
phone it turns on the Bluetooth. Unfortunately profiles don't seem to
be triggered by any of the USB states (USB connected or Power).

Profile: Car (5)
State: USB Plugged
Enter: In Car (3)
Exit: Out Car (4)

Task: In Car (3)
A1: Bluetooth [Set:On]

Task: Out Car (4)
A1: Bluetooth [Set:Off]

I'm running version 1.1.1u2m on a Samsung Nexus S running Android
2.3.6. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Am I doing something
wrong?

Cheers,
Rich

I had more or less the same problem, but now it works, at least for
me.
I'm using two states for this:
state: Power AC
state: not wifi connected

HTC Desire Z android 2.3.3

I just tried USB Plugged on my own Nexus S 2.3.6 and it worked fine
(except when I had USB tethering going).

Is Tasker on (bottom-right button in profile list should show green
and say On) ?
Is the profile enabled (green checkbox next to it in the profile
list) ?
Does the profile show as active in the status bar notification
pulldown ?
Have a look at Menu / More / Run Log, anything happening ?

I'm having a similar problem. It was running well on my S2 however after changing my phone to galaxy note2 I'm having this problem of usb connected state not being recognized by tucker. Is the issue due to note 2? Do we need to do something differently using note 2?

The USB handling changed in Android and in Tasker. It's not possible to detect some devices because of
they way they are handled by Android.

I presume you have selected 'Any' in the USB Connected state.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I selected any but still not working. It was doing well till last wk. This issue has come only after changing to note 2 : (
But I'd like to thank u for this wonderful app. It sure gives a lot of satisfaction in tweaking

Dear All,
any solution to this yet?
it was very useful when it worked on the earlier device. I want the 'Change input method' dialog box to pop up when I connect to my laptop. It would be extremely useful if we could get Tasker to do that. As I understand its not possible at present for the newer versions of android.
Could there be some workaround or would the application be modified to make it work on all devices and versions?

I have this same problem with my Google Nexus 5 on Android v4.4.
It isnt detecting USB changes.  Yes I tried "any".  It doesnt work.  But if I just do power yes it detects that.  I'd like more granular control though so when I am plugged in at home for power it doesnt initiate the task, but it will when I plug my phone in to my car for example, which uses a SlimPort adapter and it can know this.

any update?

I found a bug in the current version that it tests for USB devices too soon after a disconnect signal, so Android hasn't finished yet removing the device.

I added a delay for that.

Not sure if that's relevant to your problem.

Hi Pent,

Thank you for all of your hard work on these versions of Tasker!

I just wanted to say... We sometimes have to remember that our scripts and apps are working at Android speed!
I have had a few task steps that worked fine in Tasker, but when Exported as an App, a wait had to be introduced to allow time for variables to be set by Android.
The same happens occasionally within Tasker. It sometimes will depend on the amount of tasks running, memory available, etc.
Tweaking the settings in Tasker itself can help or hinder.

Just saying, a Wait for 300 msec can make the difference in my experience.

Sorry to revive an old thread, I have noticed failure to detect state for both USB connected and power profile contexts in my new OnePlus One phone. Not sure if there is any other fix that might allow this context to be recognized? Is it a hardware incompatibility? Thanks!

Does this not works in some devices? I cannot detect any kind of power state in my Oneplus 3T.
