Google Project Fi user on a Nexus 6P. Been trying to figure out how to trigger turning cellular data off when connected to WiFi and turning data saver on when cellular data is being used.
Trying to save my cellular data allowance for when I'm not connected to WiFi. Have tried a few profiles using WiFi as a trigger. Don't think the Tasker task for cell data setting is actually doing anything.

Thoughts and help appreciated.

I would like to do this when a particular APP is running, then when it exits the APP to turn Cell Data OFF. I can created a Task to do this for WiFi but not Cell Data.

That is a limitation of android... You can't control data usage without root from any version above 5.0 or 5.1 (not sure which).

Hi Tim,

I have root (Systemless) with MOTO Stock XT1575 6.0 ROM and Tasker v4.8u5

If you have root then you have options. See the pinned thread at the top of the forum starting with "mobile data..."

Next Tasker update (see beta thread) has a very useful VPN feature which could be used to block traffic.
