The attached document contains a reformatted version of the PREFACE to the Battelle monograph, "Structuring Complex Systems."

This version is designed to be easier to read than the other version that was distributed as four individual documents, earlier in the year.

This version was created from a set of text files that were produced using optical character recognition software on graphics files containing the scanned  text.

There may be a few translation errors, so if you have any questions about specific words or sentences, please let us know.

This document is included as part of the Read Ahead material for one of the upcoming video conferences.  The material will add background for the  asymmetric <=> antisymmetric discussion.  Further, it points out that Chapter Three of the main document may have material that is valuable in the systematic review process.

The next Structural Modeling Video Conference is August 6th at 9 AM (NEW TIME).  Kevin Dye will be the main presenter with a general topic of 'part-whole' relationships.

Take care, be good to yourself and have fun,

Joe

Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves.

All progress, therefore, depends on unreasonable people.”
