Hello all,

As per the subject, the program execution for my project hangs up @  'variable #1' after executing 'simulation no= 1'

I left it overnight to run for about 17 hours, and it's still there.

Any suggestions?

P.S. I should also mention that I created my SWAT simulation in ArcSWAT 2009, for ArcGIS 10.0

In this situation there is usually a mismatch
In timing between swat and swat-cup.
Look in the files in the echo directory for
Possible clues...

Thanks for your reply.

I just checked 'echo_extract_rch.txt', and I can see that the information ends part of the way into the year 2011 (my simulation goes until 05/2014).

My field observation data begins in April, 2007; this is why my series starts at 4. Is there something I did incorrectly here?

... you should simulate from beginning to the end of the year. Stopping at 155 is not accepted by swat-cup yet.

Thanks for the feedback. I modified my simulation to end on the last day of the year and SWAT-CUP seems to be working now.

It took me several hours to figure out this issue.  I do have a current dataset that ends in October 2014 (ongoing monitoring) and need to have a calibrated model for up to that day. Is there any simple solution around this problem?

Hello,

The observed data for your streamflow/calibration data needn't go from the beginning to the end of the year. You just need the actual SWAT execution to do it. You can force SWAT do run to the end of the current year by simply adding to your climate files so that they go to 12/31/2014. You can just use the previous year and copy those in for the dates with no observed climate. This will allow you to run the model and you can simply ignore those extra days/months.

What should be expected from the echo file? I tried simple example with glue and 1 parameter for 5 years (well 2 skipped) and it has been reading the simulation number 0 model.out for 2 hours.

Echo files just echo what they read. Obviously there is a problem with the format of your input files. Please check the input files using the temples provided..

I am facing the same problem. I did what you suggested, and change the dates to finish the simulation at the end of the year. Although, I am still having the same problem. Would you take a look for me? I'm stuck here!

Beginning simulation is set at 2012 but observed data is from 2013. If you have no warm up period, then 1_2013 is not the first month of simulation, but the 13th month

Hi Sir Mike! I'm also having the exact same problem though my simulation is until the end of the year. I have a simple model as I'm still trying out SWAT-CUP. I'm calibrating only 1 variable (Flow_Out in a single reach from Jan. 1, 2000, to Dec. 31, 2013 with NYSKIP=3). I'm attaching here my Echo and Sufi files I hope you or anyone can take a look. From what I've seen in the echo files, the echo_extract_rch seems to be cut short (as seen below; that's the end of the txt file already)? I don't know how if I should edit this txt file manually to complete it or there's an error somewhere in my SWAT.

Sorry for that I've already seen the source of error. In my SWAT Viewer I only made yearly and monthly runs, but here in SWAT-CUP I was setting the time step to daily. I tried to run it with a monthly timestep and worked. Now I'll try to rerun daily in SWAT Viewer before proceeding to SWAT-CUP (daily).
