I am new to the group and astronomy, so forgive me if this has been asked before.  I am running Stellarium version 1.2.2, ASCOM Platform version 6.6, and EQASCOM version 200w.  I have a new Skytwatcher EQ6R mount.  On power up, I unpark the mount, slew to a visible star (using EQMOD), and center my scope FOV cross hairs on it (using EQMOD). I then select the star in Stellarium and press Ctrl+Shift+1 (sync telescope/mount #1).  I expect the Stellarium mount position indicator to move to the newly synced position, but it does not move.  If I then do a goto to another star, the mount moves to it and the selected star appears in my FOV (or very close).  The Stellarium mount position indiactor moves too, but does not settle on the star, but instead is close.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is this normal behaviot?  Please help...

Thanks in advance
Robert

My Stellarium version and the current one on the web to download is 0.21.2.  You might want to install that version.  I also have a Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro mount.  However, my setup uses the hand controller, and I can slew using Stellarium or NINA.  Sellarium has a new icon feature on the bottom tool bar to sync and hookup the telescope.

This video shows the icon I am referencing.  You can watch the entire setup but the location of using the icon is at 2:38 minutes into the video.  You may want to pause the video to see the icon to click on and the window that comes up.  The window’s bottom tab takes you to Configure your telescope if you have not connected.  I use it to connect first and then Sync and Slew.  I have learned when slewing to the object, with either the hand controller or NINA, and if not exactly centered on the object in the camera’s view or eyepiece, you click on the object, then click on Center Object and then Sync.  If you are wanting to Slew, click on the object you want to go to, then bring up the window if not already up and click Center object and then click Slew.  If you want to have NINA import coordinates from Stellarium click on the object you want imported to NINA the click on Current object before going to NINA to import.  I most all times leave the Slew telescope to window up on the screen.

There are other videos, but this was a quick search for the one using the new icon.  The CONTROL click method did not work for me either.

Hope this helps.

Hi!

сб, 22 янв. 2022 г. в 23:26, Robert Crosby <irth...@gmail.com>:
I am new to the group and astronomy, so forgive me if this has been asked before.  I am running Stellarium version 1.2.2, ASCOM Platform version 6.6, and EQASCOM version 200w.  I have a new Skytwatcher EQ6R mount.  On power up, I unpark the mount, slew to a visible star (using EQMOD), and center my scope FOV cross hairs on it (using EQMOD).

After connection to the mount the reticle within Stellarium should be located as mount coordinates. In your case the reticle apparently should be located on some star, which you are used for alignment in EQASCOM. Is this correct?

I then select the star in Stellarium and press Ctrl+Shift+1 (sync telescope/mount #1).

Did you select the same star or someone else?

I expect the Stellarium mount position indicator to move to the newly synced position, but it does not move.
If I then do a goto to another star, the mount moves to it and the selected star appears in my FOV (or very close).  The Stellarium mount position indiactor moves too, but does not settle on the star, but instead is close.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is this normal behaviot?  Please help...

Alex,
Thank you for your quick response.  After reading your email, I realized my problem was an EQASCOM problem and not a Stellarium one.  As stated in my initial email, this is a new mount, but I didn't mention that it replaced my EQ35.  I discovered that I had forgotten to clear my EQMOD data from the old mount and sync my new mount's home position. Once I did that, problem resolved!  I can't imagine how many ameteur mistakes you respond to.  You have a great product and I know you are proud of it.

Thank you for your support,
Robert

Thanks for your reply.  My problem turned out to be not deleting the eqmod sync points from my old mount and not resyncing my new mount's home position.

BTW, it appears I am running a newer version of Stellarium than you.  I am running 1.2.2 and you are running 0.21.2.  Recently I received an email from Stellarium notifying me of the new release, you might want to check it out.

Best Regards,
Robert

Where do you read a version number of 1.2.2? The current version is 0.21.3.

I was just on the web site and even used the update tab in Stellarium and the current version is 0.21.3.  I went back to https://stellarium.org/ and checked again and they list 0.21.3 as the current version.  I have never gotten an email from Stellarium about an update but I am nobody important either.  Strange that you have another version that is not listed on their web page as current.

All,

I had selected the wrench symbol on the top right of the screen and selected the about tab.  Upon further review, that is the revision of the ocular plug-in.  Just now, I went to my pc download folder and discovered the true version is 0.21.2.  Sorry for the confusion.
