Error with running spark-shell file in cygwin

Hi, 

I'm trying to install SPARK on my windows local machine using cygwin and encountered an error with running the file ./spark-shell as the last step:

Installing SPARK with Cygwin seems a bit tricky. Please let me know if anyone knows how to solve the problem.

Hi Muni,

We haven't run Spark in Cygwin much so you may have to patch it. Please let us know what you had to do if you get it to work. However, we do provide just a plain .cmd script to run Spark on Windows: spark-shell.cmd. You can launch that from a regular (non-Cygwin) Windows terminal.

Hi Matei:

I'm now trying to install SPARK on linux server and got the following errors with some URL connection problems:

I downloaded SPARK-0.7.0. Is that because it's already updated to SPARK-0.8.0 that some of the urls are removed or corrupted?
