Hello.

Looking at http://docs.sonarqube.org/display/PLUG/ReSharper+Plugin I see that apparently the ReSharper plugin is deprecated:-

This plugin is not maintained any longer.

If this is true what is the recommended process for using the ReSharper rules in SonarQube now?

Hi Guy,

If you feel you must use ReSharper, then this pluigin is what you need. However, we've replaced a majority of the significant rules, and deprecated the plugin because of that. In short, take a look at the rules offered by the SonarAnalyzer for C#.

Thanks Ann for an update . However, we definitely want to stay with Resharper because most of .net developers uses Resharper as a formatting tool as well. An example rule I can give is with "RedundantThisQualifier". The resharper does not recommend using "this." for members with an object variable. Hence, it makes it easy when the sonarqube is also analysing the same. In the above mentioned C# rule set, an alternative, is not covering such smells.

The resharper provides 600+ rules where as the mentioned C# plugin just checks 174

What is your view on maintaining resharper plugin??

Hi,

My view is that this is a plugin in search of a maintainer. We released it to the community several months ago. If you're interested in stepping up, let us know.

Wonderful reply Ann!
I am keen of getting into this and see how can I contribute with Sonarqube in general. I will see the contribution section on web, unless you have any quick way to start.

Cheers

Hi,

The contribution section doesn't address taking up the reigns of a project without maintainers.

Basically, the procedure is that you decide you want to do it, and send me your GitHub username. We grant you perms on the repo, and away we go!
