Sonar.properties file with cli sonarlint

How do you specify the sonar-project.properties file with the windows sonarlint cli tool?

I have a sonar.properties files that has some exclusions and sets `sonar.analysis.mode=incremental`.

But running

sonarlint -u

in the folder project folder does not pick up my properties file.

The CLI tool doesn't use a properties file for configuration. It uses a JSON file, as explained here: http://www.sonarlint.org/commandline/index.html

To exclude files, use the --exclude option. Most of the functionality is configured with command line flags, run sonarlint -h to see all supported options.

The SonarLint CLI doesn't have the notion of modes. You might be confusing it with an older tool, the Sonar Scanner CLI. That is a different tool, it has a preview mode that is similar to what the incremental mode used to be a long time ago. But I don't recommend to use it, as we don't plan to support this usage in the long term, we focus on SonarLint instead. I recommend to use sonarlint, and configure it with the various command line options.

No, there is no new location for this. We no longer support SonarLint CLI.
