Hi folks

It’s probably a bit late but even after a reinstall I’m finding my iPhone 6 unhelpful with iOS 11. I have completely given up on Apple Pay on the tube as it takes up to ten seconds (tube users behind me are not amused). Anyone still wondering about upgrade might want to hesitate if they rely on quick responses (camera is similar).

cheers,

-Jason

I’ve noticed that my iPad Pro seems very slow at times. I thought we were having problems with slow internet speed but each time I do a speed check it seems to be fine. It must be IOS, its a very frustrating backward step. I hope they do something about it soon

I suspect it's just the inevitable strain on older hardware of a more complex OS. It's the unresponsiveness of Apple Pay that is driving me nuts but everything is noticeably slower:(

Oh well...

The response of IOS is diabolical. My iPad Pro is only a year old and using my MacBook Air I get sub second response, while on the iPad I get the spinning wheel constantly, and sometime (often) get timeouts doing internet search.

Have you tried resetting your network settings on the iPad?

I haven’t noticed sluggishness on our various iOS devices. However in the case of Safari it does seem to dwell on occasions with some web sites.

As I also have the iCab app when trying to load sites that dwell in Safari mostly iCab comes up with a warning which you can choose to ignore. I suspect that Safari is checking the validity of the web site which might account for the delay.

The Mail app is occasionally slow checking for new mail but nothing serious. Other than that I’d say that iOS 11 has been a success. Particularly impressed on iPad Pro.

Tony

On my iPad I really like iOS 11 - it makes so many thing either possible or far more useful, but …

Siri is a lot slower to start and run and sometimes typing has serious lag. But then, curiously everything will be fine and nippy, and then slow again.

A bit patchy, but overall I feel as though I have a new iPad in terms of usefulness and enjoyment.

Looks like resetting network settings on my iPad may have worked. Things seem to be better. Thanks Sam

Relieved to read this thread.

My iPhone 6 is painfully slow.

I've reset network settings, it improved things for a few days.
I've done factory reset, again a few days improvement.

Typing in iMessage can lag up to 3-4 words behind. Siri is slow to activate, and even slower to respond/act. I really much of the UI tweaks and new features, but am really disappointed that it nags me to upgrade when that really isn't an option (I'm a PAYG on a hand-me-down handset kind of guy!).

I hear some find similar bugs and glitches on their 7, so it's not just hardware, but other little gremlins I imagine.

Be so grateful for any other tips and tricks to improve things from folks.
I've not dared update our iPad Mini 2!

Funnily enough my iPad mini 2 seems fine (I think it's a 2, might be 3; definitely not 4)

I am wondering whether to do a clean install but I dread the many days of 'oh, damn, what's the password for...' and getting settings as I want them again. I also find Messages is pretty pants. I've been using my iPad by default instead of my phone, basically, but it's not so easy to use Apple pay with an iPad;)

In fact, apple have managed to turn that particular item into an iPod with a handy phone, for me. Back to 2003;)

My iPhone SE (which I’ve always taken as being an iPhone 6 in and iPhone 5s’ body) has been absolutely fine with ios11 one thing that may be different between me and some of the rest of you is I waited a version and went straight to 11.0.1

I think it’s a 6S in 5S body.

That S makes all the difference!
