Hey folks

Well, my trusty MacBook hit the floor last night. Boots up fine, but LCD kapoot.

Can source LCD from thebookyard.co.uk for about £100, but how easy is it to replace myself? Anyone tried?

I'm now no longer in easy reach of Sam!

Thanks

Adam

Should have added, it's the Macbook aluminium unibody, late 2008 model (A1278)

Thanks

Scratch that. Just seen online in a tutorial that step 1 is to melt the glass glue with a heat gun! Unless someone knows something easier? I prefer Lego style assembly!!

Forget it, I'll call Home Insurance and worst case, a new iPad it'll be....

You’d need a heat gun  to melt the glue yes, I’ve done it many many times (a lot of clumsy people out there). Is it just the LCD or is the glass smashed too? To replace just the LCD also requires full disassembly of the laptop as you need to unhook the LCD cable which runs through the display hinge.

Yikes, no glass is fine, but the LCD is gone so sounds like full disassembly.

Looks fiddly to me and well worth paying an expert...
