Folks

I've just noticed, that there's no way of limiting the number of emails that iOS Mail now downloads for each account! Seems odd, no, to remove that setting?

Can someone kindly confirm that I'm right, and indeed any tips on storage management or workarounds?

I work to a zero inbox philosophy, but I noticed that my Deleted and Sent folders include seriously old emails! I merely want, say, the top 50 to be able to check on recent correspondence!

Any ideas anybody?

Thanks

Adam

You can sync a numbers of days rather than a number of emails. Setting, mail, select account.

Nope - I don't have that option Russell?!?! Am I being thick, but I can't see it?

Moreover, does that mean if I have a folder with, say, 10 emails in it which are over a month old, then they wouldn't be shown if not within the parameters?

Regards

Adam

I don't know why you haven't got it, that's a bit odd! I can see it on both my ipad 3 and iPhone 4, so would appear not to be device specific.

Re second query, yes, that's what it means.

Not sure how you might resolve it, sorry Adam.

Intriguing!?

I'm on an iPhone 4.

Can I ask you to confirm:

Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars....

Then under ACCOUNTS I should tap GMail, and then see ACCOUNT, which if I tap, get know option of dates whatsoever?!?!

Odd?

Solved! (ish)

It's not device specific, but alas it is another gremlin in the war between Google and Apple... in that it works for other IMAP mail providers, but not GMail.

That said, I can't see it for my iCloud emails either... can you Russell?

Thanks

Adam

Ah, I might know why: I have gmail on an exchange account, not IMAP. Another account I have on IMAP does NOT have those settings. And google no longer allows new exchange setups.....
