This new feature doesn't seem to recognize my face and I can't turn off my alarm. What can I do even temporarily to get around this?

Hello,

you have to smile at the camera as much as you can to solve this captcha.
Other than that, to set a different Captcha, go to Settings > CAPTCHA > Default CAPTCHA and set it to something else. Also please check your alarms to not have this Captcha set there.

Thank you very much.

Hi Jiri,

Can you be specific on what you have to do and how long you need to do it?  I have the same issue where I can't get the Smile CAPTCHA to accept my smile.

I tried the following without success:
  • Smiling for the whole minute (multiple times)
  • Putting a picture of someone smiling in front of the camera
  • Have other people smile
  • Restarting the phone, but that doesn't reset the alarm.
  • Deleting the alarm, but it requires the CAPTCHA to be solved first

This CAPTCHA is not documented at all on your website, and I don't understand what requirements need to be fulfilled to solve the CAPTCHA.

Thanks,

Scott

I uninstalled and re-installed the App which fixed the problem.

PS  Please document the CAPTCHA or provide an alternative way to cancel an Alarm if stuck on a CAPTCHA.

Hello, many thanks, unforunately it is very hard or even impossible to do camera related functionalities which work flawless on all the big Android zoo. Regarding CAPTCHA we cannot do that, so this would help people avoid CAPTCHA which is against the purpose of CAPTCHA..

Thank you very much.

Could you please solve this issue? I had the same problem. Restarting the phone turned off the alarm, but couldnt change the captcha unles I solved the capcha.

Could you please also add this captcha to your documentation, so people can find any information when searching for them?

Hello, I'm sorry but we cannot fix the issue without being able to reproduce this on our devices, this seems to be probably device specific and I suggest not to use this CAPCTHA and always test your CAPCTHAs upfront..

Thank you very much.

I was using a Galaxy S5 on (I believe) Android 5.1.1 - Lollipop.  Samsung or Verizon pushed out Android 6.0 Marshmallow within the last few weeks to Galaxy S5, so maybe that will fix it?  I moved to a Galaxy S7 on Android 6.0.1, so idk if I'm still affected.

Love your product and thanks for all the features!

Dear Sleep as Android,

we have found the cause of the issue that you've encountered earlier, regarding the Smile (Say cheese) and/or QR Captcha that do not work and cause the CAPTCHA to be stuck.

The error is caused by a serious bug in the Google Vision API that we are using for the CAPTCHAs. You can read the announcement from Google here. Google is working on a fix and will deliver it to you automatically via Google Play Services update.

From the next update of Sleep as Android, we will have a workaround so that you don't end up stuck on alarm. If a CAPTCHA with the error runs, it will be automatically solved for you.

In the meantime, please use another CAPTCHAs.

Please accept our apologies.

Mine was looking for the smile. All I had was a black screen, tried touching the screen, tried closing the app but alarm was still going off. Shut off my phone and turned it back on,that worked for all of 2 minutes. Then the alarm went off again, and asking for the same thing.. big smile. I still had a black screen. I couldn't find anything online about the issue and meanwhile my phone is blaring the stupid alarm tone. Like max volume and I couldn't turn it down..so I was forced to uninstall the app that I paid $4 for and now I have to pay for it again to re-download it? Totally messed up, really not happy and I couldn't write this review on the app store nor could I write it on the sleep app website. There was nowhere for me to write a reply...not very happy. I loved the app until this.

Hello,

thank you very much for your message and sorry for the issue. So if you tested Smile CAPCTHA it worked but it did not when during the alarm? We had few similar reports now, and are investigating the issue. It seems there may be outages in Googles Vision service with is used for the CAPTCHA, can you please check back on this or simply use a different CAPTCHA for the time being?

Regarding the unlock issue. Thank you very much for purchasing our app and sorry for the trouble. The following should help resolve the issue.

Firstly - did you buy the unlock as a separate app (" Sleep as Android Unlock") or as an in-app purchase? The solution is different in each case.
  • For separate app
    • Please make sure you have installed both Sleep as Android as well as Sleep as Android Unlock in your phone settings->apps->downloaded.
    • If not, head to the Google Play Store and download Sleep as Android Unlock again! As long as you use the same Google account you did the purchase with as your primary account in Play Store it remembers your purchases and you should be able to download again.
  • For in-app purchase:
    • After the initial purchase, you need to wait for a while (maximum a few hours), the app should contact the licence server and unlock itself. If it does not, then:
    • make sure the Google account your did purchase the app with is the primary account on all your devices in the Play Store app,
    • go to "My apps" in the Play Store app in order to refresh, then restart your phone. This is super important.
    • If the app doesn't seem to unlock, please reinstall the app, this has solved the problem for many users recently.
Did it work? Please keep me updated. Ideally send a debug report ( alarmlist>menu>report a bug) if the issue should persist. Also please let us know the order number of your purchase. This is included in your purchase confirmation you should have received via email - or you can check it at payments.google.com.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Petr Nalevka
