Greetings:
Having a 558 foot sky wire I have been getting great SW and Ham reception. It is suspended among tall trees at heights that vary from 40 to over 60 feet. Its shape is what you might call an awkward pentagon. It has a 50 ohm coax lead 75 feet long and a lightning arrestor.
I just passed the technician exam and am looking for thoughts on how to take advantage of this antenna while working the ten meter band, at least until I get my general license. The wire suspension and center location is such that I can take out 50 to 100 feet or more of the antenna wire without much difficulty. For example, I calculate that if I reduce the length to 532.7 feet I will be at 16 wavelengths for 28.3 MHz. That would be an easy adjustment to do. But what else would I need to do?
Anybody have any ideas for what fun can be had with a set up like this?
Thank you,
Richard (awaiting call sign)
Thanks very much Jason,
What feedline are you using, and/or are you using a balun?
I have been thing about two skywires, by wavelength, for my omnidirection needs, and then a beam or two for precision. How are you set up?
