Fun when you run into it and are reminded unexpectedly....

Seen randomly on the weekend.

I have gotten all my stickers printed at www.stickerguy.com ...   he runs a special on 250 B&W vinyl 3.5" circle stickers, same size as the SCAC sticker, for $65.    These are properly silk screened, using UV resistant ink on white vinyl that will last YEARS on a car window or bumper.   you just need artwork.

stickerguy.com *can* do color, either process colors, or screenprint halftone colors, but the minimum is generally 1000 ...        the B&W specials work because they put dozens of different sticker orders on the same sheet and print them all at once.

btw, he printed the GSSP ovals that I had made umpteen years ago.

Sewn onto the skirt of my 18" near the focus, Jamie.

There's still a few around.

Those embroidered patches were made around 30 years ago.

It's also pretty easy to set up a print-on-demand store at a site like Spreadshirt. You can upload a logo and set up a wide variety of items (clothing, mugs, stickers, etc.) that are ordered and ship directly to the end user with no cost to the organization and no hassle of managing a group order (less of a big deal for stickers, but more complex for clothing orders). I've set up a shop for our local club that will go live tomorrow.

Hey Rod,

That's a great idea.  I once had a Cafe Press store for such things

Aside from the patch, I can imagine all sorts of Astro promoting TAC stuff on such a site.  I'm interested!

I'll share the Nevada County Astronomers store URL when it is live tomorrow. The prices you will see are all set based on zero markup (no profit for the club), so a TAC store could be set up with the exact same pricing.

I'll volunteer to manage a TAC store (though happy to let someone else do so, too), but I'm not the person for the creative side. Mark, do you have a file with the old logo? Or does anyone want to make a new one? The store can have more than one design option.

Print on demand stuff is basically ink jet, and it's not very durable when compared with screen printing.

Your idea Rod, I think you should be the guy.  Just my vote.

I think Jamie or Charlie W might have the artwork for the patch.

What I'd like to see on a site like that aside from the TAC patch is, historical SSP and GSSP t-shirt artwork on t-shirts, cups, mugs, hats and other items (mouse pads?) people could come up with.  Even a DeepMap 600, or TAC Zodiac signs (heh), famous or infamous objects. All with TAC on the item (and The Astronomy Connection and URL in smaller letters).

Its always fun to see what can turn up from a simple post.  Never know.

Yes, that is the trade off. Washing inside out with cold water and hanging to dry (not putting items through the dryer) will help, though.
