I haven't seen it mentioned on this list, but I just noticed this blog post saying that the beta site was now open for everyone: http://blog.scraperwiki.com/2013/05/10/free-community-accounts/

When I tried it, my account didn't seem to work.  I double checked on the old site to make sure I was using the correct password.  Does the beta site use a separate authentication system?  If so, why?

What about existing scrapers?  Are they accessible from the beta site or do they have to be ported over by hand?

Hi Tom,

You're correct – beta.scraperwiki.com has its own separate authentication. You can sign up here:

Your Classic scrapers won't automatically be there waiting for you. But you can copy and paste the code into the "Code in your Browser" tool, and it should work without modification. There's a guide here with more info:

Hope that helps,

Hi Zarino,

I'm just going back through my email history to make sure that I understand/remember what was announced when.

Did you know that the ScraperWiki product was being abandoned when you wrote this response back in mid-May?  Can you point me at the earliest corporate announcement of the ScraperWiki shutdown? (Apparently scheduled for September 2013, from what I've read recently)

Tom

September 2013 is three months, so even if that is the announcement surely that's enough time to move code+data to either the new platform or your own machine.

Tom, have you *tried* the new platform yet?

Ross.
