Namaste,

With help Of Shankaraji  I have prepared a list of Sanskrit books published by Nirnaya Sagar Press. The excel also gives links to Digital Library of India and other public domain website from where the books can be downloaded. The list excludes books printed under Kavyamala , Kavya Mala Gucchaka series. The list also excludes books printed by Nirnaya Sagar press and not published by them. For a few books I could find links from where it can be downloaded. If any titles are missing please populate the excel.

I thank both, ajit gargeshvarI and shankara, for creating this book-list with links. I didn't know that so many books were published from nirNaya-sAgara and available.
Thanks again. This is a great help to those who are doing nothing but study.

Dear Ajit ji,
Jay Jinendra

My son has chosen to do a project on the Nirnaya Sagara Press, Bombay. Any data you could share on the esteemed publication house would be highly useful.

Best regards,

This posting made by me in this Group 3 months ago is about Jawaji Dadaji, the founder of the Nirnaysagar Press and one of the pioneers of the book-publishing industry in Bombay, and his successors.  The Name 'Nirnaysagar' itself comes from the Panchanga of the same name for which his Printing Press was established..

Even prior to Jawaji Dadaji, the same Panchangs was being printed by the first native publisher of Bombay., Ganpat Krishnaji, who brought of that Panchaga in 1831, printed by the Litho Method. Jawaji Dadaji used the Movable Type method for his Nirnaysagar Panchanga.

It is a recorded fact that puritan Brahmans of that time were reluctant to use Ganpat Krishnaji's Nirnaysagar Panchanga as they were afraid that the ink used in the printing was based on animal fat.  Ganpat Krishnaji developed ink based on Ghee to allay this fear.
