This week, packages from repo.saltproject.io will be migrated to packages.broadcom.com. This means a variety of disruptive changes are being implemented around installing, upgrading, and pinning/locking Salt.

Am I reading this correctly, this will be happening at the end of the
month...i.e in 2 days?  Will the old infrastructure remain online to
allow people to migrate their sites to the new infrastructure.  Seems
wild a change of this scope would drop with such short notice, I'm
seeing the blog post is dated Oct 28th 2024.

No, the old infrastructure will disappear at the end of the month. This is something that is being mandated by Broadcom. We were only able to work out the details of what is happening and options available to us this week as it is affecting all of VMware, not just Saltstack.

Sorry for the late notice. We are doing the best we can to handle the pain points. Unfortunately, there will be many changes related to this. Things won't be as pretty as they were before.

Thanks for the quick response and transparency.  I appreciate the
difficult situation the developers must be put in here, so I appreciate
your efforts to keep the community in the loop.

I'll see you all on the other side while after we done rebuilding our
entire site's infrastructure.
