The *only* thing in all of Sage that will start a Java applet is the
default 3d plot renderer (jmol). Nothing else.
Maybe by parametric plot you mean parametric_plot3d?

Yes -- there's a lot of work on that. The three.js alternative for 3d
plotting is already the default in
https://cloud.sagemath.com and can
be used via the threejs command in the Sage cell server

https://sagecell.sagemath.org/).
