Hello everyone,
I am SONDI Mikael, student in the final year of Computer networks engineering. I am interested in Routeflow because there is much that can be done to render the project even better.
I am interested in Project 5 ( OpenConfig support configure the Quagga BGP via YANG models ) of Routeflow , for GSOC 2015.
I am glad about the answer Christian Esteve Rothenberg gave to the question posed by Kaan Ozdincer. This gives me a path to follow, on how to go about routeflow for GSOC.
I have deployed routeflow, studied the architechture and ran rftest1 and 2. I am currently studying quagga, bgp, yang, netconf and openconfig, to make this project a success. I wish to know if there is any other thing that will be beneficial to me as I prepare for this project. Comments and feedback are welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Sondi,

sorry I did not replied earlier. By now you should have seen the
template we suggest for project proposals. In case of the YANG model
support you may want to invest on the status of openconfig and
investigate how it could be integrated into our Quagga / Linux
environment. Note that this GSOC project is the most exploratory from
all and we ourselves do not have a clear view on a concrete
development plan, hence, the project requires some combination of
research plus development.

Thanks
Abs,
Ch

Hi Christian,
I am glad to have feedback from you.
I have seen the template you propose for project proposals. Thanks for the highlight you gave on the exploration part of the project. I will be happy that I do some research for the project to be successful. I will give you feedback as soon as possible.
Thanks.

Hi Christian

I have submitted a proposal on this project(#5).Here are some aspects I wish to start researching on:
note: yes indicates what I have done already(and understand)

What OpenConfig wants to tackle: YES?

Support to YANG models for BGP configuration:

Support to YANG models for BGP configuration using OpenConfig.

How OpenConfig can be included in YANG models.

The OpenConfig YANG models: YES

The BGP YANG models: YES

I would like to know if you have any other thing to add.

Thanks

Hi Sondi,

your task list looks good. You may want to look also into some Quagga
BGP specifics to try to understand how the YANG-based BGP
configuration would be ported / translated into the Quagga BGP config
files / commands.

cheers,
ch

Hi Christian,

I would say "waoh". Thanks for that. I missed that out. Will get to
that right away.

Thanks
