I suggest very useful feature: configurable tooltips for all thumbnail views, at least strip view.

We used to have an infobox in the past that was very effective.

Check here old plugin but not working in 8.5.

I would suggest changing list display of a record  limited to a single line at present to multi-line display  like, for example:

This will  be useful to display as much information from a record as desired.

An option for Collection Comments please. The ”comment” could be a multiline area displayed at the top of collection when it is displayed in the main window. This would facilitate making the purpose of the collection clear, helping with private collections curation and giving shared public and featured collections a described focus.

Something I've just been trying to do today was to use certbot to install a letsencrypt certificate on my Resourcespace install, but it looks like Resourcespace doesn't like working over HTTPS.  

I'm still wrestling with this at the moment, so it's possible I've missed something in the config here, but if it's not already possible to do this, I'd like to be able to so that my clients have that extra confidence when logging in.

Thank you Danny... you just solved a problem that's been giving me a headache all day.

The apache2 conf was trying to redirect to the https, but the resourcespace conf was redirecting back to the http giving me a redirect loop.

Schoolboy error, but it's working perfectly now.  Thank you.

I think you guys are already working on my only real request which would be to allow clients to select and download multiple resources as a zip, so nothing to add here bar more weight to that ticket. :)

I will suggest to provide a detailed documentation to developer community, if ResourceSpace enhance their developer community, it means, this system/framework can enhance and will open connections to many more people/industry. I have gone through all the documentation provided by Resourcespace, but it seems like very limited. Instead, if you look at documentation like WordPress system, how they explained their plugin development or system enhancement APIs, it is nothing if you compare both of you.  More you will open this system to developers, more this system will evolve. 

I hope you will consider my suggestion in upcoming released of resourcespace.

I use RS as video archive too and a good help would be a partial download of a video file (chances to select in point and out point of a video and download just this portion), transcode on the fly (for setted codecs), creation metadata of subclips to send to an editor (no duplicate or download) as subclip.rsp plugin was doing before HTLM5 replace Flash player.

I have a couple of sugestions to add in the new version about the staticsync feature, 

1.- file name parser

2.- xml parsing

flie name parser

we use RS to video catalog and would be so usefull a name parser function can be configured in the staticsync variables so we can have files names like that category_user_title_year-month-day_hour+minute+seconds.mp4 .

Would be so good, can define the field separator character like in the sample case "_" and can asign any of the parts of the names to a metadata field or even user so the staticsync process could asing the file to an user in the ingest process. Would be ideal to can set a character conversion so some characters are not allowed in the file name as "/" or ":" so RS can swap the charartes in certain parts, for example swap the charater "-" by "/" and "+" by ":" in order to fill the field correctly.

xml parser

would be the same idea that the name parser but would be so so usefull that could asing xpath form xml to a customa data field. This could be a great feature for the staticsyn in orther to can field custim field like HTML fields or big text fields.

The idea here could be to have some variables array that let user configure some static part of the variable that could be for example HTML code and mix with XML labels in order to get the values of the sidecar XML drop next to video or media file into the staticsync folder. Doing like that we can create tables and insert in HTML custome fields if the XML file contain a xpath with multiples node as the parser iterate on every of the items of the xpath and use the static and variable defined in the xml parser configuration to fill the information on the custome field. So many video ingest system allow to ad logging tags or time code base metadata that can be shown later in a HTML field using CSS style to format the view of the field form the ingest.

We'd love to add Adobe integration - and if there was some path to
developing or funding it, I'd really like to know.

The issue is that, as Adobe don't support an open standard (they dropped
CMIS which was our intended route) a plugin has to be built for Adobe.
This requires different skills to the LAMP stack skills we have in house.

We spoke some time ago to a third party who would develop a plugin for
what I thought was an extortionate fee, but then they'd still retain the
IP and charge our users/customers for using the plugin. Not a great at
all and not in line with our open source ethos either.

So, we're definitely open to suggestions on this one.

I think this is primary for mobile use. In desktop browsers with large displays the small thumbnail was shown with 40% of the viewable area... Simple solution: Replace "width" with "max-width".

I would like to do a small contribution for a new feature in the next major release. Im not a developer but we found this script in my previsous company so i want to share with all of you, i would like that this feastures in Staticsycn could be added at the core for next releases.

I Attached the script and basically has a couple of new features. 

a xml parser and a filename parser

XMl parser let me asign Xpath to matadata fields and if i add a xml file with the same name of the media file in the Syncdir folder the script will parse it. I think this ingest workflow is so interesting for video assest management so we can use the xml desscription of a film ot timecode loggin in a video file exported by any ingest tool to the Syncdir folder.

The filename parser has a so basic implementation. i would love that the parser let me assign any value in the file name separated by separators like "_" to a metadata field, but in that case we use some variables to validate the values first.

Hi All,

I recently came across this project (https://wavesurfer-js.org/  &  https://github.com/katspaugh/wavesurfer.js ) while searching for a WordPress plugin for audio playback with interactive waveform visualization as used on many stock audio / music related websites.

This led me to Video.js Wavesurfer - A video.js plugin that adds a navigable waveform for audio and video files, using the wavesurfer.js library.

How about adding the waveform visualization &/or interactive navigation to audio files in ResourceSpace.

I think this will make an interesting addition, especially for all users who work with stock music / SFX files etc.

Apologies if this has been suggested / discussed earlier and I missed the post/reply.

Hi,

A minor change but a significant one:

Let's change the Language selection dropdown for $languages["en-US"] in config.default.php from "American English" to something that doesn't presume USA to encompass all of "America." In our instance we changed it to "English (USA)" (the default our users generally see).

I would suggest a simple additional option to Batch Replace. 
At present the options are:
a) Match the filename to a field in the metadata
b) Match the filename to the Resource ID. 
However the default of RS downloads is to prefix the Resource ID (eg RS1234_myfilename.jpg)
There should be an option that allows you to upload back as this - eg Prefixed RSID. 
This would then look for the resource ID using a REGEX and would mean a slick download / reupload process without renaming using the default download method.

Hello,

I know what you mean but that just makes it even more complicated xD.

We as a department, upload photos that we take to a collection (40 photos in a collection from a charity event).
Another department will download photos from the collection for PR purposes (e.g. they might need only 5 from 40 photos there).
So currently they are downloading one at a time. It's fine if it's the only option.

But does the software have the capability to select multiple files in the future updates?

It's a bit convoluted, but as I understand it, the way to do what you describe is for the person who needs to do the downloading to build a new collection, add the photos they want to it, and then download that collection. I think in order to do that, collection-downloading needs to be enabled in the config file (I have no idea if that particular configuration parameter is available from the ResourceSpace back-end...I just know that I enabled it in the config file several years ago due to having similar needs and searching through this ResourceSpace group for options at the time)

Improvements to the installation process - checking permissions on the directory structure with a CLI tool, more detailed instructions in the documentation about what to do next after an installation (It just jumps to user management) - or a list of things that have to be true for a new installation to work.

Better information on how to configure simpleSAML.php too please!
