Participant Facing Dashboards

I'm trying to create a participant facing dashboard that will display summary results. For many questions the smart charts, tables, and functions are working okay; however, I have a few items that I could use some suggestions on.

For example, I have 15 related variables with a 5 point scale from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. I'd like to a display a table that shows the number of times the value on the scale is answered (and mean) for each item.  So envision the variables listed in column A and the values as headers for the rest of the columns (somewhat similar to a matrix field item).  I tried the [stats-table...] smart chart, but it shows the number of instances the question itself was answered.  I know I can create the table from scratch using a individual count report for each variable and value, but would rather not do that.  

Does someone have a less burdensome solution to this?

I think the default Dashboard is severely limited. Try the external module for Graphs and charts

Thanks so much for the answer.  Did you have any external modules in mind for something like this?  I'd love the info needed to assess (and perhaps have our admin add it to the list of possible external modules that can be selected).
