Regarding the USB3.0 port issue, yes, it is our limitation.
We will phase in a new revision to support USB3.0 port. The current status is under testing.
Although my Asus G74 has USB 2.0 ports so I'm okay, I have to find some irony in that my Asus Xtion does not work with my Asus notebook's industry standard USB 3.0 port.
Thanks Christoph.
Any news on this? Thanks for your help/
Is there any new software available? Have brand new ASUS Notebook with only USB3!! Specially for scanning, and now.. yes not it's not working. ...!!!
I've tried, due to fact
USB3= 4.5W; 5V ; 0.9A --> 5.55 Ohm
USB2= 2.5W; 5V ; 0.5A --> 10 Ohm
to decrase the 0.9A to 0.5A due to more resistor (4.45 Ohm).
didn't help!! :-(
for mac i found this https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!searchin/openni-dev/usb3$20win7/openni-dev/SFtKbxAzDQs/3K-CveV_2JQJ
I've tried, due to fact
USB3= 4.5W; 5V ; 0.9A --> 5.55 Ohm
USB2= 2.5W; 5V ; 0.5A --> 10 Ohm
I cut the line and brazed 4.45 Ohm between. So to U=R*I should be the same if you raised the resistance.
So the problem. I think it is the higher transfer rate, not the current that gave the problem.

hope soon means 1 day, you told end of september.. hope you're great software will work with USB3 too.
Any reports?
Do I have to connect my Xtion to USB2.0 or can it be 3.0?
After this it was recongnized on the win7 usb3 port
First: Updating patch on a USB2 port.After this it was recongnized on the win7 usb3 port
The firmware update must be applied from a computer that has a USB2 port then the camera can be used on computers with USB3 only.
Thank you for sharing this!
Worked for me as well. Thanks!
As an aside I wonder if this fix will allow multiple sensors to be used on the same usb controller? USB 3 has a much higher throughput, but I don;t know enough about how USB2 devices are supported by USB3 controllers to understand if the single device per controller limitation has been lifted.
The problem appears to be that a single USB2 controller cannot handle the throughput of two sensors - at least with the Kinects.
This may not be an issue with Xtions though. It would be good as I currently have had to buy multiple pcie usb2 controller cards for running more than 2 kinects on the same machine.
I have a laptop which has only USB 3.0 ports.
I had an "10 error" with my Xtion Pro Live, so I applied the Hotfix given on Reconstructme to update the firmware from another laptop.
Since then, the Xtion is installed correctly but when I run Reconstructme (Console or Qt), I have a freeze and this message ...

Can you help me?
Thank you
You could be suffering the same problem as I am currently suffering.
See the discussion on this page:
http://reconstructme.net/2012/10/13/asus-xtion-usb-3-0-hotfix/
Generally, I suspect that when you turn both depth and rgb stream on with 640x480 resolution, the bandwidth limitation will cause depth stream frame lost.
The suggestion is to turn off RGB stream, or to try ReconstructMe Qt.
Good luck,
Qianyi
How can we turn off RGB stream?
Have you heard anything from asus regarding an official usb 3.0 fux? I just got a bew xtion and am reluctent to apply the fix after my last one failed

Is somebody of you using PCL (Point cloud library) 1.6.0?
I patched one of my xtions and all my programs suddenly hang on execution (USB3 and USB2, different computers). An unpatched sensor works, so it has to be the patch...
Hi Ralf,
See my post here:
http://reconstructme.net/2012/10/13/asus-xtion-usb-3-0-hotfix/
Simple test is: run NiViewer (came with Openni package), move the camera fiercely and see if there are depth frames lost.
If there are, you are experiencing the same problem as I have. And currently there is no solution for this.
Good luck.
Qianyi
Hi Christoph
Any news from ASUS on the xtion final update?
Hi,
I updated the firmware of the Asus Xtion Pro Live, but now the device is not detected. When I use it with OpenNI or with the firmware upgrade the message that I receive is "device not found"! Can you help me?
Thanks,
Brian
Does anyone have this hotfix file? the link to download on reconstruct me site is not working....Thanks,
Brian
Brian
I updated the firmware of my asus xtion pro live sensor using the Asus site:
http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Xtion+PRO&os=
That fixed the USB 3.0 issue for me. I had to run the firmware update program twice to get a successful firmware update on the sensor. First it failed.
Remember that you ll need a USB2.0 port to do the upgrade.
Regards,
Bernhard

that worked for me, too! After receiving a new notebook with Intel USB 3.0, I searched hours for the solution with almost all websites telling me that a) there is no solution at all or b) I should install an unofficial firmware update and loose OpenNI 1.x compatibility.
I am grateful to the PrimeSense/Asus folks that their (late) official firmware version 5.8.22 solves the issue while maintaining OpenNI 1.x compatability.
