Hi, everyone, I'm building a Joe Appaloosa and I'm thinking about buying some Cliffhanger rims for it, but I've heard that some people have had problems with wide rims and cantis. I've seen several Joes on-line with Cliffhangers and V-brakes, though. Does anyone have any experience with Cliffhangers and cantis?

Thanks very much!

No issue on my wife's Clementine or our HHH. The Clem had Shimano canti's of some sort and the HHH has Paul motolite. They are wide rooms so I suppose some frames might have an issue if they have narrowly spaced studs but I don't think that's the case on any of my bikes, I've mounted a cliffhanger rim in my canti-saluki as well and it looked like it would be fine from a rim perspective.

No canti has ever seen a rim or frame or rider it did not like ;)

As it happens I built my Appaloosa this year with Cliffhanger rims and CX-50 canti brakes. Everything works fine. For what it's worth, Velo Orange 700 x 63 fenders give ample clearance over Riddler 45 tires, and I had no problem setting up the brakes to clear the fenders.   -   K

I have also installed cliffhanger wheelset on my 48 Hunqapillar and using CX70 brakes.

PS Installed also SKS P65 fenders.

I think I'm going to slap on some Schwalbe Big Bens and call it a day.
