I added a group for Rivendell Cheviot owners to add photos of their bikes. I invite all to contribute.

Kellie:

Even if we don't have a Cheviot, can we peek? :-)

Why, of course. It's the Rivendell family.

Great idea.  I've added a couple of my pictures to the group.  Still loving it.  Still hovering waiting for a new granddaughter, moved on a bit and had a great ride to dinner last night in one of our favorite towns.

BUMP. Just trying to reach as many Cheviot owners as possible. Keep those photos coming!

today's ride was a repeat of the other day so no new pics from me. Tomorrow will likely be biking somewhere in your area, Kellie, with little one in a trailer behind us. Expect to drive to Emeryville to meet Dan to buy tires. So within that general area too.

Can you suggest an interesting ride somewhere around there that will keep us pretty much off roads and won't kill my husband pulling the trailer? Something besides the Bay Trail since we do that often. (Then I'll have some more pics to add.)

Kathy -

You could try the ride out on the Bay Bridge. It does not make it all the way out to Yerba Buena but the ride would be scenic. That section starts in Emeryville near the IKEA - not far from my office.

Another option would be to drive up the hill and ride around in Tilden Park.

I love pictures of the same place twice because it's never the same place twice. Grin. And there are always ways to take new pictures from new angles that reveal something new.

Heaven knows I take quite a few photos along the same stretch of trail/road because it's the five mile stretch I take to ride nearly everywhere. THough they may think it, no one's cried "Uncle!" Grin.

With abandon,
Patrick

Oh, you’ll get repeats. Trust me. Yesterday didn't seem that interesting and we were a little on borrowed time. I can highly recommend riding in to sebastopol and enjoying a meal at ultra crepes. So good. You'll see those pics after we take the little one back home for a few days of rest (us).

Thx Dan. Probably will do one of those. See you later

Ohlone Parkway, an urban, car-free path. Starts at No. Berkeley BART all the way to Richmond BART. A few miles from Emeryville. You could drive there and park @ the start. Nice break stop, Brazil Cafe right @ Gillman ave. you do have to cross streets on this trail.

Didn't get to take either of the rides Dan & Kellie recommended, but have filed them away for first opportunity.  Just added a couple of pics to the Cheviot group from yesterday's ride Sebastopol to Forestville so I am bumping this up.  Definitely not a long enough ride, but great fun and hard to beat starting the trip off with buckwheat crepes.  I transferred my old seat to the new bike (it's the only thing not brand new on it so far!).  When I told Keven I usually had a numbness issue after a ride, he suggested a comfort saddle he thought I should consider as "that should not happen".  Guess what - bike that fits me properly results in no numbness from saddle. I just feel like I could ride forever although, to be honest, we haven't ridden more than 20 miles in a day probably so who knows.   But I think I'm correct and will test it soon as I can.

Really getting to "know" my new bike & am really enjoying it - I think Grant should be paying me for PR work.  Thanks to Dan, I now have the Hetres on the bike and now have to play with tire pressure.  Of course, I cringed yesterday every time I heard something crunch under my tires, but never saw glass and no problems.
