months back I posted about my friend mark's 2007 toyo built atlantis, purchased fully equipped by Riv to ride cross country. never happened. bike's got maybe three miles on it, been in storage ever since.

asking 2000 or make an offer. mark will have to take to LBS to disassemble and ship, so 2K plus shipping/make offer. bike is in baltimore and we could meet halfway if you're in the region.

it's either a 60 or a 59 cm frame. I measured 24 inches from center of crank to top of seat tube. top tube was 21.7 inches. 700c wheels

phil rear cassette hub, 9 speeds
schmidt generator hub and lumotec headlamp. I spun the front wheel at the storage unit and did not see any light. this was pre LED headlamps
carmina cranks, Paul cantis, chris king headset, axiom front rack, nitto rear, brooks b17 saddle, stainless fenders

all this is 2007/2008 vintage. mark just told Riv to set it up right.

schwalbe marathon supreme tires, about 40 something mm   maybe still good as they've not seen any sunlight.

email me or mark. he is not on this site.  reutt...@yahoo.com

Tom:

That's a great price for a new Atlantis with all the goodies on it.  I hope your friend is able to sell it.

Regarding the size, likely it's a 61 cm.  I have a 58 & it measures 22-3/4 crank center to top of top tube.  On Rivendell's site, they have the frame geos for both current & old models.

So... I just closed the deal and sent payment for Mark's 2007 Toyo Atlantis!

Tom, thanks for posting here and making the connection. I can't wait to unbox this new-to-me (and almost new overall) bike and start riding it. I always loved the original Atlantis, but back then it was way beyond my budget to get a new one. I've been to Walnut creek twice, but never rode one so I can't wait to feel the classic Riv ride that everyone raved about back then. Based on the numbers I got from Tom, I think I'm getting a 61cm but I find it strange that the elves at Riv would've spec'd that size for a 5'10" rider, 61cm or 58cm... we'll see.

My plan is to make it my fendered year round commuter with some Compass Snoqualmie pass tires that I have waiting for it. This should allow me to also use it daily and also on longer rides and S24Os during the weekends. I'll post some photos when I have it all set up.

With all of this, I'm thinking of selling one or two bikes to fund the new toy and make space. Probably my black and cream 2TT 62 Sam Hillborne will be the first to go since the Atlantis is replacing it functionally (also I never got really comfortable with noodles on the expanded frame. I'm 5'11" with a tall pbh, so I barely straddle it and even with a short stem the top tube feels very long for me. I just got a Billie bar to try on it to bring the handlebar closer but it probably doesn't make sense to set it up at this point).

After that, I'll consider whether to put my 62 SimpleOne or my 61 waterford AHH up for sale. Maybe later this year. That's going to be an interesting decision, I don't think I want to get rid of either but if that Riv anniversary bike ever happens, I will need to ;)

Ride on.
Max

I just got back from Harris Cyclery where they built the Atlantis (I could rant about how they have sadly declined as a Riv dealer / bike shop, but I won’t do that here).

6 miles in and after a couple of adjustments to the saddle, handlebars and fenders which were rubbing, I’m loving it! It was mostly flat pavement, a bit of dirt and a small rocky down slope which it handled beautifully. What an amazing bike, seriously! Photo attached as promised.

Looking forward to many more miles of joy.

Cheers
Max
