Two unrelated questions but:

Do TRP RRL levers work with V-Brakes without a travel agent?

And, is it true you can remove a cog from a 10 speed cassette to achieve 9 speed on a 7 speed hub body. We're talking shimano stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Eight speeds of nine, or nine speeds of ten works on a seven speed shimano body. Still need to use the appropriate chain for the cassette.

You could also replace the freehub body to get 8/9/10 speeds. There are a few that are not in tercompatible.

8 of 9 on 7 is definitely doable. I have also put a 8sp cassette body on an old 7spd XT hub. with 9 spd road shifters you can also use 9s mtn or road derailleurs.  With 10s shimano road shifters you need to be more careful with interchangeability due to different pull reqmts, but it is still doable. With 10s Shimano road shifters you can use a 10s road derailleur, or a 9s mtn derailleur or a travel agent type thing or use Microshift 10s barcons that are compatible with 10s mtn derailleurs.

Are there 10 spd cassettes with loose cogs? I'm not sure I've never gone past 9. I know you can get 9spd SRAM cassettes where the cogs can be disassembled with a small Allen wrench.

I heard rumor about the trp+v brake thing but could not verify it anywhere.Would be interested to hear if they do, and how well they do, if they do.

TRP RRL brake levers pull an appropriate amount of cable for road bike calipers. Typical V-brake calipers require a lot more cable pull. In the coarsest terms with no specifics short pull levers with long pull requiring brakes will work but the two frequent complaints are

1. Extremely squishy braking. It's super easy to pull the levers all the way to the handlebar
2. You have to run the brake pads extremely close to the rims

If the v brakes in question are not actually typical v-brakes but instead are mini v brakes like Paul Mini Motos or similar, then those two complaints are significantly mitigated. If the brake posts are positioned in a way that allows you to run your brake pads all the way up at the top, the math of mechanical advantage also improves.

So, as usual, it depends

Tektro does make a model specifically for V-brakes though. I can't
remember the model number. It looks a little weird because it has an
extended hood because of the longer lever arm.

I have the rl520. Not terrible looking to my eye. Doesn't feel as nice as the trp, but there are only a couple options for drop v levers, as far as I can tell.
