45cm being 650b is kind of a big deal! I would assume that would affect the ride to some degree. I agree that lime/olive is killer. I am sure these won't last long.

That’s a weird choice. Rim brake 650b wheels are pretty tough to find.

Maybe eventually, but there's a ton of Riv models running them and they sell the wheels. My custom and Susie are rim-brake 650B.

I fell in love with my blue Clem all over again when I took it on vacation and rode it all over the north. It’s just such a good bike. So comfortable and stretched out. I do love a Platypus, that’s for sure, but the Clem is just special in its own right. I hope the changes made were good ones (they will be) and that the people who most want these bikes and will ride them are the ones who will a Clem on the day of the sale.

The recent edition of Calling In Sick, Clem L edition really makes a person extra glad to own a Clem.

Truly unbelievable. Gone in less than a minute I think. I so badly wanted a lime olive and had it in cart to the last button click, then poof. Gone.
If anyone is sourcing parts I have a nice heap that seem to be useless now.
Really hoping for a miracle. Let me know if you bought one and change your mind.

I immediately called Riv in shock. I was to the second and I just can't believe the cart doesn't hold an item for 20 seconds to finalize. I also called some dealers and was told that no dealer has any. I would love to be proved wrong. The second issue is it seems dealers only will sell if you do a build thru them. Since I already have a ton of parts i've bought, it wouldn't make financial sense.

Andrew, what parts were you hoarding for it? I snagged a 64 Lime Olive and have pretty much everything I need but might want some different bars than I had in mind (was gonna use the Wavies from my Cheviot but something with a little more backsweep might be better). Also have a friend looking for a bunch of parts. LMK!

For the record, I am holding out for a miracle. No parts are up for grabs yet. It would be a Velocity wheel set, Silver crank, silver deore 9sp RD, and a cassette for now.

The completes are in September.  They might be an easier grab than just the frame. Maybe you can grab one and swap parts and sell whatever is extra? It is such a crazy market. I know that Rivendell doesn't like it any more than we do.

I think the completes will sell out just as fast except for the largest size. The bike market has been forever changed because of the pandemic. It is going to take 5 years for the supply chain to adjust to a 10% increase in world wide demand.

That might be true. I know that there were 45 frames and there will be 99 completes so the odds are a little higher for the potential buyer. I am shocked that they sold out that fast.  Was the entire shipment sold out that quickly or just some sizes and colors. I do see there is still a large frame left.  Did anyone here that wanted one manage to get one?

I watched my time go from 1:59 cst to 2:00 refreshed my page was already logged in put a 59 lime olive into my cart went to pay and, sold out. Really talking like 30 seconds if that, crazy, guess it wasn’t meant to be. Curious how much quicker you had to be and how?

When I looked at 12:10 pst the only size left was 64 in both colors (don't know how many frames). 15 minutes later there was ONE blue 64!

Are some purchasers using bots? Is that a possibility?

I know of people who regularly purchase 'Limited/Collectible' stuff online. You have your cart ready (as much as you can) have paypal ready in your browser with quickpay or whatever. Refresh page constantly from a minute before the release. It goes live it shouldn't take more than 5 seconds to complete your purchase. No bots required.
I feel like people buying rivs aren't using macros or bots. They are just keen.

I remember when we received the first batch of Quickbeams. The green ones.
They sold out pretty fast. Not in two minutes, but maybe in two weeks.
So we ordered another 100, and the second stack languished for a long time,
piled in the middle of what is now the showroom. They eventually sold.

The times, they are a-changin'.

No way of knowing if anyone is using a bot. I doubt it.
Like you say: Have your RBW account set up. Have your cart ready. Refresh like crazy, starting a minute
before. And boom.

We definitely look forward to the day when we have enough bikes and frames for everyone who wants
one. And we hope they sell out. But not in two minutes.

I think that, coupled with the bike boom in general, interest in Rivs has grown exponentially into a somewhat more mainstream "alt" bike world through social media and complimentary brands like Crust, Simworks etc. Hopefully it plateaus at a sustainable height at some point.

If you have a pile of parts for a Riv build, I imagine there's a Riv-adjacent frame you could Riv-out in the meantime so you're not completely without!  Bit tougher if it's 650B wheels you've got, but doable.  Soma Buena Vista is a good option!

I hope Roadini's aren't this difficult to get. I have parts laying around for the Roadini and I'm thinking I'll give it a shot. If I can't grab one or find one used, I'll opt for the Roadeo.

I don't think there are any Roadinis coming in until 2023 based on what their one email newsletter said.

Indeed, it'll be a pretty long wait. Looks like the colors are going to be RBW Orange and Blue Silver this time around after talking to their team.
