It's looking like it's good enough weather for Sunday (not raining!). Who is riding this year?

I'll be there on my mustard Appaloosa with a posse of my family. Say hi if you see us.

I’ll be there with my sister on her pair of Clems! Don’t have a start time yet, but I do hope to run into you!

Have fun. I was going to go and I’m already signed up but too many other factors cause me to back out. I will be cheering. for you though from Philadelphia. And, I’ll be there next year.

I'll be there riding with my daughter. Wave 1 start.  Reluctantly decided not to bring my Homer up from NC so I'll be on a rented bike. Ugh. Will keep eyes peeled for Rivs.

My weather app (Weather Bug) shows good chance of rain. Wet or not. Looking forward to it.

Long shot but my schedule cleared up tomorrow, anyone have an extra vest they're looking to unload?

We did it. I flew to NYC to my sister’s Manhattan apt and borrowed one of her two Clems. The Lone Wolf (Marc Irwin, to the rest of you) had me pick up his packet and we decided to meet before the tour and the 3 of us would just ride it together. We had our pair of Clems and TLW rode his new Brompton.

I saw just one other Riv, a dark gold Susie/Gus whose rider was not at all chatty and seemed to shrink back from my enthusiastic greetings. But he did say there was an Atlantis back there somewhere. Speaking of Atlanti, I came across a post from one such owner whose Atlantis met an untimely death on its way to the 5 Boro Tour. He was on the freeway with his 1Up rack which carried 2 Surlys besides his Atlantis, when it snapped at the hitch and sent all 3 bikes to a premature death and possibly, the semi behind them. (Not drivable, from my understanding.) He continued on and secured a Brompton to ride instead. But wow.

I was really surprised I didn’t run into any of you there - I certainly looked for you!

Hope you all had a fabulous ride.
Leah

Sorry we missed you, Leah! Our group got a late start from the house and ended up leaving with wave 2, even though we had wave 1 bibs. I actually didn't see any other Rivendells, though many people commented "nice bike," "nice Rivendell," and even "nice hipster bike" to me. I saw one Crust Stupid Tourist bike and talked to the owner a little, and I think I saw another (salmon colored?) Crust bike pass me on the highway close to the Verrazano bridge. Of course, it rained hard once we got close to the end on the expressway, but I brought my rain jacket and I didn't mind. I had a great time! I even rode there and back, for a day's total of 54 miles. I hope everyone who is on the fence about doing this ride, especially people who don't live in NYC, come out to it next year.

I rode my orange Rambouillet a couple years back, my wife opted to do a local rent which worked out fine. She commented on the number of "my friends" doing the ride because of the ongoing compliments about my bike to the chagrin of the numbers of more modern but homogenous CFRP TdF cosplay road bikes all around us for the leisurely ride.

We came into the area from the west and planned to start from Staten Island with a ferry ride to Manhattan and be able to slip away back toward Newark at the end after dropping the rental off with the vendor.
