Are there photos of the Lone Star panniers available? I have Tubus Tara front racks. Apparently there are difficulties fitting earlier Lone Stars
on the Taras. You can compare older and newer LS panniers at http://www.thetouringstore.com/LONE%20PEAK/LP%20PANNIERS/P099/P099%20PANNIERS%20PAGE.htm

Final request: pls measure distance on the backsides from the top of U-shaped clips to the bottom of the pannier. Pannier length is an issue on
my bike.

Dave,
From the top of the hook, straight to the bottom of the pannier is exactly 12 inches.

Good! Now please confirm these panniers have the Type 2 bottom fasteners (final 3 photos) and not the Type 1 bottom fasteners (first photo).  Comparison photos at

http://www.thetouringstore.com/LONE%20PEAK/LP%20PANNIERS/P099/P099%20PANNIERS%20PAGE.htm

Quote from that website: "For years I have had to tell customers that the Tubus Cargo Evo was the best rack for Lone Peak rear panniers, and the Tubus Ergo was the best choice for Lone Peak front panniers.  Because there was no vertical or horizontal adjustment for the lower hook system on Lone Peak Panniers, they did not fit well the very popular Logo Evo, Cosmo, Tara and Duo racks.  When a rack was suitable for the Lone Peak mounting system, the fit was incredibly secure, reliable and durable with virtually no issues.  The new system retains the same reliability, but now has both vertical tension adjustments to fit racks with a shorter top to bottom distance, as well as horizontal lower hook adjustments, for offset lower mounting points.  We can now get a secure fit on any of the Tubus front and rear touring racks!

The first photo above shows the original lower hook system.  The final three photos illustrate the adjustable tension system, and the offset adjustment capability.  Tension can be adjusted by simply retying the knot to lengthen or shorten the bungee -- simple and reliable!
The new system retains the simple, strong and reliable "Loc-on" upper hook system.  We couldn't see a way to improve the upper hook system!"

Drew, pls confirm bottom attachment arrangement.

hey dave,
the bottom bungee attachment is like the 1st photo. i believe all of the smaller panniers have this attachment and only the larger ones have the bungee attached to the top with the strap that allows for segmented-side to side adjustment. youll notice that in the photos, only the larger panniers are like this. anyway, they fit on my rack quite solidly and were purchased new from lone peak about 8 months ago.
let me know if you need any more info.

Drew--

One more stipulation is hook size. LS pannier hooks come in two sizes to fit either 8mm or 10mm diameter rack rails. Use calipers or even open end wrenches to determine diameter capacity of the panniers.  Note: 10mm rails are about the same diameter as a AAA Duracell battery. If you can fit a AAA battery inside the hooks, that will indicate capacity.

Drew--

If you still have the panniers, I think I can use small hose clamps around the bottom of the Tubus Taras to enable attachment. How about $75 shipped to 66502?

Did you post a photo that I missed?

This has devolved into the worst sale I've witnessed on this forum, Dave, please kindly pay the $80 & move on. You should throw in an extra $5 for the hassle.

Best,

That little down arrow next to the "Reply" arrow / button has a "reply privately" option.  This is your friend during transaction discussions.

I don't seem to have that option to reply privately, although I would like to have it.  See attached screenshot.

That's interesting.  On my PC, when I click the "Reply" button it immediately creates a reply to all. It doesn't look the same as what you're showing.  Your screenshot includes the small down arrow to the right of the "reply" button which should activate a drop down that includes the "private reply" option.

On my Android phone, there is only one arrow for "reply", no options.  I think in the past it's been noted that Google Groups has some quirks depending on what you are using, Apple, PC, Android, etc.

Jim, what happens when you click on the arrow to the right of the reply button?

Your screenshot is a screenshot of gmail.  If you only look at RBW Group traffic via Gmail, then you don't have the option to reply privately.  If you want to have that ability, you need to switch to looking at this board as a message board.  Use google groups to look at this board, and you will see that you have the ability to Reply, meaning put a post on the message board for all to see, or you can "Reply Privately" which only sends an email to the poster to whom you are replying.

Just open a new tab and type in: groups.google.com and see what you think.

If Google was smart they would recognize in the Gmail interface that the email came from Google Groups and allow for the private reply from your email box if that's where you happen to be.  That would be more elegant, IMO.

I make many of my replies from my Android phone and as far as I know there is not a Groups app, thereby necessitating switching to the mobile browser to visit the Groups site.  I think that's non-ideal.

But anyway, I digress.
