Well, I just snagged a web special Clem. A 52 lime green with a few upgrades over the stock Clem that I wanted. 1x10 gearing and Cliffhanger wheels. Check it out: https://www.rivbike.com/collections/riv-garage-sale/products/52cm-clem-l-web-special

Joe and Leah I finally got a low top tube Riv!

Well, this is just the best news after a long day of work!!! Congrats, Doug! You will never regret a Clem. They’re like the Golden Retrievers of Rivendell. Loyal, simple, accommodating, and cute. I can’t wait until you get it up and running.

Leah,
Long day at work for me too. After FIVE straight video meetings I checked the Riv Garage sale and saw two awesome Clems for sale. I picked the green color with the 1x10 drivetrain. The Cliffhanger wheels are heavy but I think an upgrade from the stock wheels. James at Riv has been great to work with on some details after my purchase and now I wait for delivery.

Doug, in honor of your new Clem, I took mine out for a 10.5 miler! Saw this spooky house on the way. I absolutely love a Clem L. Upgraded wheels and dyno make it irreplaceable. I just adore mine, and you will know this joy soon enough!

Leah,
Don't approach the front door! Ha. I'm honored that you rode the Clem today in anticipation of my inaugural Clem ride. I am planning a Dyno upgrade for it but that will be at least six months down the road. I may get a set of road tires for it but the Terravail Ehline should be okay for now. Do have a single front chainring?

Doug, if I could do it all over again, I would have a 1x drive train. But I didn’t know about such things then, so I have the double with the trouser guard.

I think your current wheels are probably fine. They’re better than the stock wheels, which were horrible. Also, which green is that Clem? The bronzey green or the limey green from the last batch?

It is the new batch of lime-green framesets. Looks great on my screens so I'm hoping it will in person as well. I've had single speed bikes and a couple with 1x and am now officially a convert to simplicity.

Absolutely, those Cliffhanger rims are awesome. Wide for big-old tires (I dig the knobbies that are coming on his bike), maybe not the lightest in the world but that's quality stuff. He really scored with this build.

Joe,
What's your guesstimate on how much my Clem will weigh? I'm thinking 32 pounds??? Weight obviously wasn't a factor in my decision to buy it but I am curious.

Doug, I think 32 lbs. is about right. These babies can get pretty stout when loaded up Full Riv Style but parts missing here: racks, fenders, one derailer, one shifter, one chainring. Every ounce counts and this one is missing a lot of them!
