Looking for a 59 cm Clem L, in mustard (butterscotch? butternut? whatever it's called, you know the one!). My wife is tired of me stealing her Betty Foy that I bought for her from bicyclebelle last year.

I have a Clem Smith H 59cm in "grilver" if you are interested.

Things That Warm the Heart of Leah Peterson: that’s where to file this. ♥️ I’m so glad the Betty is loved. That was at the top of my list.

Leah

It's well loved, does duty most days as a school bus or errand runner.

By the way, anyone know if 59cm Clem L in mustard was a combo Riv produced? Realizing I've never seen a pic of one. Did they only make this in the H version, or are there L's floating around out there?

Brett,

No mustard L's that I'm aware of. My recollection is there was a mustard H and orange L in that batch.

In that case, anyone have a 59cm Clementine/Clem L (any color), OR, a 59cm Clem H in mustard? Wanting a step through but I'd consider a 59 H in mustard.

Also interested in a Rosco Bubbe mixte if anyone is selling.

Brett, there WERE mustard Clem L’s - Grant had one at one point and a customer convinced him to sell it. But they are rare as hen’s teeth. NOW, the mustard Clem H - there is one in 59 cm for sale on Blue Lug’s website! But after having the mixte, you’ll miss it. I hope you can find a Clem L or Rosco mixte.

Whoa, nice. Quite the premium for mustard, but may go this route if nothing better pops up. Thanks!

Yeah that's a chunk of change, plus whatever shipping would be. For that kinda money you could order an L from Riv (when they're back) and have their local guy paint it any dang color you want.

Just want to chime in and say that if you do go with the Mustard Clem H, I think you should know that generation of Clem had an issue with the seatpost lug not clamping well. Maybe they got it sorted out with later stock, but my mustard clem h that I bought from someone on the group here recently had this issue and it was a real pain. Seatpost would just constantly slip.

Writing this out now, I feel like they surely couldn't still be selling frames with this issue, but I  wanted to call it out just in case.

Ray, are you using the stock post that comes with those frames? I encountered this issue on several MIT Rivs with the 26.8 post that passed through my hands and solved the problem every time with a Nitto post. Those unbranded posts seem to actually have been 26.7.

I think that was my old Clem. I got away with using a knurled 26.8 seatpost (riv performed it without charge and payed for shipping too!). Other option is using a 27.0 seatpost, but I think options for that are even more limited.

I.e. don't worry about it too much. There are solutions if you end up with the 2017 run of Clems if that is all that is out there right now.

At that price, shipped overseas (again) you could start to consider a Susie. Truly beautiful bikes in person, and can do everything a Clem can, plus a bit more tire room.  Considering how long you will have the bike, worth it no question. Also splits the difference top tube-wise between a Clem L and a Clem H!

Joe -- That's very interesting. I don't think that would have done it in my case, but it's good to know for the future.

Collin -- Yes! It is the one you sold me. No worries, I got it sorted out and thanks again. Some might disagree with this move, but I actually had my LBS ream out just a small amount of material from the downtube so that a 27mm fit the lug/clamp as well. I did talk to someone at Riv who generously offered to do the same knurling for free even though it was secondhand. But I change my fit too often and sometimes my partner or guests borrow my bikes so I wanted it to function at more than just one height. All worked out in the end--no issues at all anymore.

It exists! Man I dig that color. If anyone finds a mustard Clem(entine) L in 52cm.. wait, I don't need another bike, don't tell me! 😬

The unicorn exists! But, the search is still on.

I may have found a Rosco Baby to satisfy the step thru desire (of course it’s not that amazing mustard). Still interested in finding a mustard Clem L though, should anyone be willing to part with one.

Nice example, Gabe. If it was a Medium (52cm) L, I'd be callin'! :-)

Well, found a step thru but it’s not a Clem L and it’s not mustard. Roscoe Bebe baby bike on its way. Still interested in a 59 Clem L mustard in case anyone sees this and is looking to sell one.

Friends!

The Roscoe Bubbe baby bike has been great to me the past year, doing lots of park and school drop off duties plus weekend runs for pancakes. I’m still looking for a Clem Smith Jr L in mustard for when it’s time to pass the baby bike along to another parent.

I’m also interested in another Bubbe baby bike, have a friend looking for one in the smaller/650b incarnation. Let me know what you’ve got!
