I have been on the hunt for bike shorts or liners that had just that small  chamois like they had about 12 years ago. The only things I can find now have a huge bad in the bottom that make it a very uncomfortable experience to ride in. I would rather just ride in shorts and underwear than those bulky things. I would consider spandex to put under shorts if I could find some with a small chamois but they all see huge.

Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Joel

Have you looked at Andiamos? Riv used to sell them in that approximate time frame. I just checked their website and they still appear to be in business.

Joel:

I wear I padded spandex liners with my cycling shorts. I find they help cut down on chafing.

Adidas and Under Armor both make unpadded liners.

Joel, for the most minimal loose shorts take a look at J&G Touring shorts.
Its all I wear in warmer weather. Steve

Does anyone still make wool shorts with chamois liners? I also hate the huge thick pads in many lycra shorts, but I've worn old Kuchariks under Rapha touring shorts and found them very comfortable. But my wool/chamois shorts are quite old.

Patrick:

Kucharik still offers genuine leather chamois as a $26.50 upcharge in their shorts. Chheck out their wool and Helenca shorts.

To the OP: Zoic sells a variety of shorts liners with various pad thickness. I usually wear an unpadded under layer of lycra with silver ions under an unpadded wool short, but sometime on long rides I want a little padding. Then use a Zoic liner under my shorts.

Thanks Eric.  Are they bulky?  Seems like the new thing in bike shorts is massive padding.

I will check these out.

Steve, I just got a pair of those and like them. A tad mor pad would be ok but they are nice shorts.  There was a thread on shorts, these were recommended.  Thanks.

Very thin. Benefit for me is that they stop friction between skin and bike shorts. Helps a lot on longer rides.

Patrick, I’m kicking myself, I had 2 pair of Kuchariks and purged all of my shorts when I thought my riding days were over.  I may have even sold them on the forum I just don’t remember.

Hi Joel, It's best to order Andiamo skins and briefs directly from them.

Also, Boure cycle clothing in Colorado uses very thin pads in their bottoms, in the 5-7mm range I recall. Their Pro Ultrasuede pad is the smallest in overall shape. Their shorts and bibs come in various weights of lycra, so do read the descriptions carefully.

I found the site but want to talk to them on sizing.  Thank you Garth.

Boure. They still make the kind of shorts we wore 20 years ago. https://www.boure.com/

Joel,

For rides under 50 miles I like the Zoic padded spandex liner under Riv MUSA shorts. For longer rides my aging sit bones prefer a more padded spandex short.

Best,

Thanks Rich, those longer rides are in my past for now but who knows what the future will bring.  Di you know the model name that you like?

Thanks
