I know this is a long shot considering the popularity of these bikes in these sizes, but we're looking for a Riv step-thru or mixte (frame or complete) for my wife who is ~5'4". A 45 cm Clem L would be ideal, obviously, but we'd also consider a 50 cm Chev or one of the older step-thru or mixte frames in similar size (Clementine, Glorious, Yves Gomez, etc.).

Anybody got something they've been thinking of selling or leads on online shops that might have something in stock? Riv is all sold out of the above mentioned and no clue when the next shipment of Clem or Cheviot frames will land. I've even thought about building up a Soma Buena Vista but not crazy about the color options and overall aesthetics compared to a Riv. Let me know if you have any other recommendations? Thanks!

I believe Analog has a 50 cm Cheviot frame.

Justin, did you get that pretty little Cheviot? Your wife will be one of the only women in the country who gets a new Cheviot for a long time - next shipment is a long way off. I hope you let Analog build it for you; it will be extra fancy.

How about a 43L Bridgestone LeBubster?

So I didn't find a small Cheviot, Clem L, or other Riv step-thru/mixte for my wife. But somehow a pristine 1984 Miyata Fifth Avenue landed in my lap for a ridiculously low/next-to-nothing price, so I stripped it down and gussied it up with some new components from Riv and a few other places.

That looks great! It really has as many Rivendell components as a Rivendell.

It's lovely, like grilver Clem L's more svelte little sister.  AND, there's a chain guard.  Snazzy.

Now that Justin is not looking any longer, I’m interested in the same bikes if anyone is selling (in Napa, Ca but can travel an hour or two for pickup). Looking for something for my wife with a 72cm PBH so 45cm Clem L or 47cm Cheviot or something similar.

Lovey bike you found instead though Justin!

They have:

Rob told me $1650 + $39.99 for the Ergon grips (+ taxes)

They just reopened this week

I should have added: He does NOT want to ship, but I could facilitate if someone out of the area is interested.

BTW, he has a big, double top tube Sam, too!

There's a blue L? In driving distance from me? Should I go buy a new bike I definitely don't need right now just because I like the color??

While that Clem L is just perfect, I should have mentioned I’m in the used / budget market.

While I buy lots of bits and bobs new from Riv, the only bike I bought directly from them was also a used double top tube Sam bully up and well ridden for $1,000.

Thanks for looking out! Maybe Joe will but that Clem L and I’ll but his used frame after! You’d look great on that blue Clem Joe ...

Joe- Not sure any of us believe you. And yes it is perfectly fine to buy a bike you do not need just because you like the color 🤷🏻‍♂️. How could you even question such a thing.

Leah- Imagine how cool your baby bear 🐻 would feel with a beautiful blue Clem L like his mom. Besides if your boys finally get the growth spurt that eventually will come you can sell it to Joe at that time. Just consider it a rental.

I object to the notion that her boys will grow out of bikes I can then fit. Who ya callin' short?? (ok I'm short 😬)

Oh, my Baby Bear...😍 Well, sadly, he has been afflicted with a selfish woman for a mother who is blowing the whole wad on a fancy Cheviot, so there will be no Little Blue Clem for him. 😂

Besides, it’s now Abe’s wife’s Clem L, so I couldn’t possibly buy it!

Read closely Leah......
Abe is a very budget minded Riv connoisseur he explicitly states he is looking for a used model.
Although I think that approach is wise and often successful it can be difficult on the extreme sizes.
When one becomes available often a second closely follows but long waits often are the prerequisite.
Maybe some small Susie or Gus buyers will release a perfect Ike for Abe’s wife later this month.

Be patient Abe trust the process.
I have scored many a large bargain at the other end of the spectrum.

Sincerely,
Ryan Hankinson
