Jon, Where were these pictures taken? It doesn't look like any part of the canal I've ridden and I want to go there. Lovely.

Derek,
Thanks,
It's a section between the Lee Gulch Trail to the south and  Greenwood Village to the north, a bit south of Denver.
Derek, Where are you located.

I live in Park Hill and ride the northern sections quite a bit, though they are patchy as far as connectivity, with construction and detours. Looks like I should head south.

Derek,
If you come south on I-25 exit Hampton and go west to Colorado.Turn left then turn right into the First Plymouth Congressional church parking lot and go to the back of the parking lot you will be facing Jefferson Ave. The paved trail goes along Jefferson to the gravel portion of High Line Canal.
When you get to the gravel turn left and you are on your way. .You will cross about 6 or so many streets over 19 miles but they have pedestrian signs to cross or there is very little car traffic and no problem crossing. It's a beautiful section to ride and not crowded..even on the weekends
Maybe we could meet for coffee out sometime or just ride.
Here's a map of the church parking and the trail.

This is great. Thanks Jon. Yes, coffee and / or ride would be fun. I will be out of state for much of the next month, but let's stay in touch.

Great ride, Jon! My wife and I rode that or a predecessor in the early 90's when we were at DU, and found it very disconnected and difficult to navigate. We subsequently preferred to hit the hills and hike and backpack, and biking took a back seat for a few decades. That makes the trail sound causal to that, which was not the case. I was stuck in the racer mentality and couldn't see past that. I do remember being amazed by the open space down south.

With abandon,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
They have really made that a nice trail with options to the Platte River trail and Lee Gulch trail.
From Hampton to C470 trail in Littleton there are only street crossings to deal with.Other wise it's open riding.
Jon
