There looks to be new photos of a Clem build on the Riv website. I can't tell what kind of tires are on it and don't see that listed in the spec. Can anyone tell?

It may be a Kenda Kwick...not sure.

Can you link to the direct photo?

It looks like the same Kenda Kwick Seven.5 that came on my 52 Clem L.

You should pull the trigger on this while they have your size. Would be a great Xmas gift.

I have a 52cm L and it's a great the-bike-you-ride-every-day bike. Stout but not dead feeling, smooth but still has a nice turn in. And the low stepover - especially when mounting a bike loaded down with gear and stuff - will make you wonder why you over rode bikes with that silly crossbar sittin' way up high. I've owned a stack of Rivs and I think this is one of the best frames they've ever done.

That's good to hear Joe. I want a sometimes commuter and just ride bike that is more upright than a dropbar setup. I did get the H so it won't be so easy to mount but that's not a big deal for me...yet. Do you like the thumb shifting?

You're gonna love it. The thumbshifters are great: The right/rear has a nice ratchet function similar to Silvers; left/front is a 9-speed clicker set to friction. There's no ratchet on that one, but it's kinda indexy anyway cuz you're only shifting two rings..forward for low, pull back for high. It's a fabulous system that feels very natural on the inside of pullback bars.

I hope so, this is a relatively big expense for me but not as it would have been for all other Riv models. Thanks for the feedback.

I picked up a used Clem this summer, and those stock Kendas are the worst tires I've ever come across. They combine slow with uncomfortable, even aired down low enough where the threads are showing. Do yourself a favor and change them out ASAP. I put on some 40mm Resist Nomads, and the bike immediately felt faster and smoother.

Eric, I appreciate the feedback and will definitely give the stock tires a try but not hesitate to make a change if needed. I read your post/blog and it seems the Clem didn't work out for you. I'm hoping my experience will be better but buying a bike sight unseen with no test ride is always risky.

Doug,

As much as I was rooting for you to get Andrew's Joe A, I'm so glad you got a Riv.  I've had my Joe (my first Riv) for 7 months now (after 6 months of deliberation) and still am so surprised how good it rides; absolutely no regrets spending the money, because of the joy it has brought me.  I think you will love your Clem just as much.  I wish you many happy miles.

My 700c Clem came with Kenda Kwick-Nines and they're a great tire. Maybe they're so much better than the other Kendas, or maybe my opinion is worthless, but the only definite I've got to add here is I wish they'd post some photos of the giant Clem L's that just came in. I was all set to get one but was able to snag one of the Will's Monster Mixte (step-through!) frames. Anyways, Doug, you're going to love that Clem. Set some 2.35 Schwalbe G-ones up tubeless on it and never look back...

I wasn't particularly impressed with the Kendas, either, but I don't ride through glass and gravel to work and back every day. That seems to be what they're designed for, and I suspect they do it well.

I wouldn't mind giving the Clem frameset another try, maybe in the L version, but the stock build kit didn't work at all for me.
