0mm offset Nitto Quill Stem

I noticed this on the radivist page showcasing a new Crust Nor'easter which like like a mightily fun bicycle.

It was announced as a 0mm offset stem..although it looks more like 10mm offset.  Somewhere in the comments it stated that these will be being released soon.

Does anyone have any info on this stem?  I wonder if there will be any other sizes...20mm,30mm,40mm, etc that aren't included in the technomic lineup.

I too was very curious about this. It sure is pretty. That’s a quill stem on a threadless (nor’easter is threadless right) bike though? How is that working?

That particular bike (the owners bike, that has a few other "custom" tidbits) is a threaded one, but yes, the Nor'easter is a threadless bike.

I wonder if these are done in conjunction with Analog based on the (W)right stems? I think they were the re-instigiators of the minimal offset stems.

Ah I see that now. Shoulda read the whole thing. I have an analog stem that I like a lot. It’d be cool to have a Nitto version, though I’d hope that analog gets some credit or kickback for taking the (re-)initial plunge.

That stem is incredible. I can see myself building a bike around one. From the comments on the Radavist page, it sounds like Crust is having Nitto make them, and they intend to be available soon. Given Crust's ability to stock things, I'm not holding my breath. I do hope it happens, though.

Man, I would love to see nice looking quill stems with removable faces...

Me too, but I think most removable face plate stems are ugly. I don't care for the above the bar bolts on them.

VO and Factory Five make some decent faceplate quills, but both are flawed: VO's has those ugly above-bar bolts on it and a 90-degree bend that results in some rise, and the F5 Titan's height is 60mm less than the Technomic and only comes in 90mm extension and for 31.8mm handlebars. I believe Factory Five's design made taller, less fist-shaped, and in a wider range of extensions and bar sizes would be the perfect stem.

Curious if anyone has tried something like this on their threaded fork?

Nitto MTC-04, Short Nitto quill to threadless adapter 

and a tall and short-extension threadless stem like the LD or something similar

I don’t know the exact measurements but an 8cm Nitto dirt drop might give you something not too far off from that LD stem but without all the adaptors and extra boltage.

But....I guess that crust one is a 4cm. With them being that close, you might as well try the 5cm technomic. Then you can decide if an extra cm less is really worth it.
