Looking for a plush 26” RH-Compass like tire for my wife’s 53cm Atlantis. She rides smooth surface paths generally. Does not need the stoutness of her current Marathon Supremes.

Thanks,

I have the Fat Franks on my bike. They are 26x2.35”. They’re downright doughy, in a good way. I hop curbs, run through broken glass, whatever. You might like them.

I run Rat Traps and Thunder Burts on my main 26" road bike, but for my 26" Santana and the 26" bike du jour (most recently a Raleigh Urban City Bike) I like the Tioga Powerblock 2.1. I notice they are out of stock in my usual place of purchase, as well as a few other places. But they are in stock here:

They are not Rat Traps, of course, but they ride nicely and knock wood I have not had flats. I've ordered from Bikewagon with no complaints.

Here's my purple Hubbawannabee, aka the Mack&Dad mobile, equipped with the Powerblocks:

I believe the 26" Atlantis was designed for Rat Traps Pass tires, 15 or so years in advance. Get the RTPs. You won't regret it.

I 2nd the above. I've ridden Thunder Burts and the Rat Trap Pass tires on my Atlantis. For mostly street and some dirt, RTP can't be beat. I run them tubeless. I go with the Thunder Burts with more dirt; also tubeless.

Here's some photos: top just finished the build with Thunder Burts, below are the RTP.

Hi Kellie, that's awesome.  What rims do you recommend for the 26" tubeless with RTP tires?  If you commute with tubeless, then what do you carry as backup for flats?  Sorry for the naive question, as I've never tried tubeless.

Thanks,
Toshi

Hi Toshi: I’m using Velocity Cliffhangers which are tubeless compatible. I ordered a kit (sealant, tubeless valves and tape) from Stan’s No Tubes to complete the tubeless process. You’ll fill the tires with sealant, and then again about every 6 months. If you start to get a flat the sealant will seal it, unless it’s a gash on you sidewall. So, theoretically you never need a inner tube, but You ALWAYS carry one, in case. Some people prefer Orange sealant but I’ve had no problems with Stan’s. I got my first flat before I went tubeless on the Thunder Burts, on the street, then switched and never looked back. There’s good videos “on how,” on the Stan’s website; also WTB and probably all over YouTube.

Alex adventurer 2 and Velocity a23 are two other tubeless ready 26" rim options. Alex adventurer 2s have been great for me with the RTPs so far.

Thanks all. Rat Trap Passes have been ordered. Excited to see how my wife compares the ride characteristics.

This list is its members are outstanding!
