Followed instructions on website and YouTube
1). Connected Shake via Ethernet to my router; no connection ot laptop
2) powered on Shake
3) Open my Chrome browser on laptop and entered http://raspberryshake.local:5000
4) Connection refused
5) Used FING to get IP address 192.168.1.117
6) Used that to ping 192.168.1.117 from a terminal window on the laptop and ping worked
7) Went to my Chrome browser on laptop and entered http://192.168.1.117 -- again Connection refused

I am at loss here - I can't get past step 1!  Any suggestions???

Good morning zwitt...@gmail.com.

I see that you have been a Shaker for some time now, from previous posts to the list.

Do you know how to use tools like ssh? You might try and get in that way in order to send us the log files which live at /opt/log/: https://manual.raspberryshake.org/no-network.html

Could you reflash the SD card?: https://manual.raspberryshake.org/burnSD.html

Let me know how you get on.

Yours,

hi marty,

sorry for the delay, your update problem will be addressed in an update going out tomorrow (monday), where all will be good again and your shake will auto-update to the most recently available version.

Richard, not sure what delay you are sorry for but in any case it was not a big deal at all, looking forward to the next updates.

Did you wait a bit here?

Especially when your burned SD card image does not contain the latest
bits, the shake startup will try to download all the updates.

So, I would suggest to wait 30 minutes (or longer depending on your
internet connection) and try again.

You could try to ssh into the shake and look around what it's doing. But
you would have to know, how it is supposed to look.

Thanks,

hi tom,

please make an attempt to log in to the unit with ssh (linux) or PuTTY (windows); instructions can be found here.

if you can log in, please run the following commands to collect the log files: (> is command prompt)

> tar cf /tmp/rsh.logs.tar /opt/log
> bzip2 /tmp/rsh.logs.tar

and copy the resulting file, /tmp/rsh.logs.tar.bz2, using scp (linux) or WinSCP (windows) back to your computer, and then post it back to this thread.

thanks,

richard
