Hi all,

Seems like vt-x is supported (hvm support) but not vt-d under Libreboot.
Still, I have't had any problem with Qubes to date (but luks full disk encryption, since the installer doesn't permit it, as reported here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/qubes-devel/044FDrqJDPc)

Anyone can tell me where to look to understand why vt-d isn't supported? it seems like the microcode revision permits virtualisation, I would have thought vt-d would also be there to support I/O MMU.

Update:
Qubes 3.1 RC1 comes with Xen 4.6 which supports new iommu keyword: iommu=no-igfx. It makes it boot to the point where netvm tries to take advantage of iommu. Can somebody help me make the debugging of this go further?

Here attached is the report of the same laptop model, but with latest Lenovo BIOS update applied (end 2012).

Regards,
Thierry

DMAR tables are screwed up from libreboot initialisation, wich results as IOMMU being completely disabled. Note that the system is working (vt-x works on microcode 1067a). There is no TPM nor IOMMU support though.

On same system with latest lenovo bios, iommo=no-igfx permits xen to boot with iommu support working for usb and netvm.  The system hangs at graphic rendering of shared regions between domu and dom0 when system notifications happen. There is no console logs even from serial console. The bug seems between i915 and iommu, and relate to pre Sandy bridge iommu support.

When xen iommu will play well with i915 and lenovo latest bios, coreboot work will be possible and that upstream version could then be used in libreboot.

This laptop and t400 need some Xen developer love!!!

Thierry
