Hi guys,

I have updated a few pics of my Xtreme from when it was purchased to now. I have not really done a lot yet but looking to improve through the summer. I am hoping to take a few more pics over the weekend of a few of the other things that have been done since these were taken.

Here is a list of what I have done to date and also what I would like to do.

Changed from 13" wheels to 17" Calibre multispoke matt black wheels.
Cut rear arches to accomodate new wheels
Replaced windscreen
Fabricated new brackets for cycle arches to allow closer fitment to tyre (pic to follow)
fitted new steering wheel (pic to follow)
restored dash vinyl and seating
full spray job from a discoloured royal blue to Aegean blue (ish)
Re-stitched roof due to tearing (more to be done on this)
Re drilled boot hinges due to rubbing on closure.
Fitted drainage tubes from the boot lid to allow for the boot to remain dry
All foam padding replaced in engine bay for better bonnet fitment and reduction of rattling.
Anti roll bar drop link gators replaced due to being worn
Carbon fibre wrap on rear arches to prevent stone chips.

To do List
Change seats to new bucket seats (suggestions and examples welcomed)
Change gear stick and handbrake
Get rear wheel cover sprayed
New arches fitted and sprayed
New LED front lights
New wing mirrors (slim design if possible)
Re-cover the centre tunnel and replace all interior carpet

I think that is it. Any suggestions or comments welcome

Ricky,
I would suggest replacing the rear lights with LED versions as well.  I'm seeing more Xtremes where the sidelights are very dim, so replacing the cluster with a LED version is a good safety and visual upgrade.

Don't forget to get a plug in replacement flasher relay that works with LEDs, otherwise the indicators will flash at a faster rate.

Regards,
Steve

Thanks Steve

Is there somehere where I can find these lights and also anywhere you would suggest to start looking for quantum parts in general. Emailed Quantum but no response for a while.

Cheers

The rear light clusters are a standard size. I think a lot of the hamburger style ones are used on buses.

I thought SVC ( http://www.s-v-c.co.uk) and Vehicle Wiring Products ( http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu) sold them, but a quick look on those sites didn't show them, so might be worth calling?

Otherwise have a look on eBay, but make sure you get e-marked lights otherwise they could fail (read should fail) the MoT. Likewise the relays can be found on eBay if your local factors don't stock them.

Steve

looking good.

I got these ones for the rear

you might find cheaper. and yes get them for a lorry or bus, far far cheaper than kit car web shops unless you want something more fancy of course.

(check if they come with the rear bowl, the sizes are slightly different)

Don’t forget a lot of buses and lorry’s use 24 volt electrics though, make sure you get the right voltage.

Hi Nigel,

I believe that he ones I have are the standard quantum supplied fibreglass seats. The have the quantum logo embossed in them so I'm sure they are standard. They are a nice fit and in fairness not a bad seat. But as I tend towards going out for the day in the car rather than track days, I am looking for something with a bit more padding in the back area. The problem is I am struggling to find seats to fit as well as these that don't cost the earth.
However as soon as I do find some you are more than welcome to have first refusal on these. I am in South Wales around half hour outside Cardiff.
Cheers

Ricky

I'll second the LED hamburger lights. They are way more visible than the standard ones and well worth changing to.

As Steve says, a modified flasher relay or resistor packs added to the circuit to make the standard one work at the correct flash rate.

Thanks. I know Paul Fenning is looking for seats too. I will see him Saturday and find out how he is getting on. I stopped at Demon Tweeks the other day and tried their seats,  but nothing grabbed me.

So I have picked up some lights,

I saw a lot of standard hamburger style lights that looked ok and were LED however they were not too different from standard and I wanted to change the appearance of the car if I am going to buy new ones.

I went with these LED ones (see sttached)

I think they are going to work but I just need to see how they are gong to fit and what I may need to do in terms of fabricating brackers.

As for the MOT. All passed and the car is now running well and in the best condition I have ever seen it (apart from one arch which needs a respray since I smashed it off)

Still going to look for seats though. Just need to measure the space I ahve available so I know what limitations I have.

Does anyone have that information?

Cheers

Paul Fenning has just bought seats from Intatrim in Telford, I think Magellan style. Perhaps best to drop him an e mail at trea...@quantumowners.co.uk and am sure he will gladly give you the details.
Nigel.

Hi Rickie
Did you ever sort your new seats? Just asking as i need to find some. Are there any markings on yours to tell who the manufacturer is as thats what I am after. I have tried a few places , but havent as yet found any suitable.

Hi Nigel,

To be honest, I was really struggling to fine nice seats that I was happy with and fitted nicely into the car so decided to modify my seats by taking off the leather and adding upholstery foam to the back of the seat then recovering. Worked nicely actually.

But the seats that I havev look like standard seats. The have an Xtreme logo embossed into the top of the seat so can only assume these were supplied by Quantum. The are the fiberglass seats but are very uncomfortable. I would suggest getting some of these from anyone really and spending the sxtra cash on getting someone (or yourself) to add foam and cover as they will fit nicely and by comfortable

Hope that helps

Hi,

For information I believe that the original seats (well one of the options provided by quantum) may have been supplied by Intatrim in Telford (endeavour range). I am in the process of getting a quote to replace one of mine as I managed to break it. I'll let you know how much when I get the quote.
