multiple virtual monitors - run multiple instances of 'syphon virtual screen' simultaneously

Does anyone know if this is possible?

ie to allow offline programming of multi-projector shows, or to allow the piping of several screens to other another program discreetly.

i tried copying the syphon virtual screen app with a new name and running them both - both ran and let me pick screen resolutions, but they both seemed to affect the same virtual screen, and rather messed up how it looked when viewed in syphon recorder (masively distorted image, and greyed out with lines all over for most of the (virtual) screen - all fine when i deleted the 2nd app and rebooted luckily!)

interesting. Does it work even with just the software installed, or do you need the hw? How much does it cost - no info on the website?

you need the hardware attached i believe, and they're a couple of hundred pounds here in the uk i believe (though i haven't ever bought one so don't quote me!)

not quite the solution to what i'm trying to do though - i want to pipe whole screens of video into another application, in exactly the way that syphon virtual screen allows me to do, but i want to do it with two separate screens independently. i'd hoped i could run two instances of svs independently, but it doesn't seem to work!

well, you can't easily start two virtual drivers (it would require to recompile the kext with a different bundle id, and the client app to call that different driver) but you can create a virtual screen with custom size (i.e. the double you need in width) and use the half on the left as the first monitor and the half on the right as the second one. 

quite hacky, but it should work if you're desperate ;)

so don't do this. just follow the guide on this page: https://github.com/andreacremaschi/Syphon-virtual-screen

where it says "Using custom resolutions", create a virtual screen twice bigger than you need and use an external tool (i.e. MadMapper) to split the screen in two

Can you tell me the right way to do it?
