Hi I've see people mention there is step by step guide on how to trigger video on multiple computers from one qLab, I can't find it anywhere on the group, can any one help.

I've only used Qlab a little bit to screen two videos in sync form one machine but now I want to have three and try and link computers. Anyone help with this.

Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,

Welcome to the list, it’s nice to have you here.

Hi I've see people mention there is step by step guide on how to trigger video on multiple computers from one qLab,

I've only used Qlab a little bit to screen two videos in sync form one machine but now I want to have three and try and link computers. Anyone help with this.

The easiest way to trigger multiple computers is to just send OSC messages from one to another.  QLab has its own OSC protocol, and the OSC Cue is set up to make it easy to create simple QLab OSC messages.

For example, this OSC Cue would start cue 10 on the destination machine:

Note that separate QLab machines will not be sample or frame accurate synchronized, but will simply start very nearly together.

Best,

Chris

Chris,

What is the frame latency range in utilizing this OSC protocol?  I remember reading there is a built in 30 frame latency for camera cues, is that similar to using OSC triggering?

Speed of network. If it's QLab->Qlab any delay *should* be unnoticeable. I say should because I've never tested but TCPIP (even going through a number of switches for digital audio transport) provides less than 1ms of delay (measured in μs)

There is no such thing!

There is a built in 4 frame latency to the DV codec; perhaps that is what you're thinking of?

Not worries. There’s a lot to keep track of, for sure!
